Propane is expensive as a generator fuel. But it doesn't go bad. A potential plus.
The honda eu generators are great for their low noise and good efficiency. Be sure to avoid gas containing alcohol. Straight gas has a much longer shelf life.
That is caused from excessive heat. There are a few things that can cause excessive heat. Timing, injector pattern, or the glow plug being energized too long.
Just wanting to check and see if we were talking about the same thing in both of the quotes above. According to the manual if you are getting 1.2 ohms on the stator you are in spec. At the edge but still in spec.
Is the stator shorted to ground? If the resistance is OK can you run a HiPot test?
It can be done with transformers. You are looking at an expensive transformer. You can do an open delta transformer and get about 80% of the generators rated load out of it. It will still be an unbalanced load on the generator head BUT it will be more balanced than running 2 phases alone. Again...
Each phase is 120v to neutral.
But since the phase relationship between any 2 legs is 120 degrees instead of 180 degrees for split phase, the voltage is 208v instead of 240v.
There is no simple or cost effective way to convert 3-phase to split phase. No magic box I'm afraid.
You can run the house on 2 of the 3 phases but I would recommend not running it to full load that way. You'll need to de-rate the generator by 1/3rd since you are only using 2 phases then by an...
Go buy one at your local farm supply or northern tool store. I bought one for under $40 that clamps on the tongue. Works great. You can install it in 20 min and hook up with ease.
My $$ is on low compression or timing being off. The other thought is the starer not spinning the engine fast enough.
If you are getting LOTS of white smoke then you are getting enough fuel in there.
When it is running have you loaded it? Will it take a full load and hold reasonable RPM...
I've been wondering if the internal circuit boards of the inverter were comformal coated. If so the coating could be breaking down allowing moisture to cause the problems.
It may be worth taking apart one of the inverters an inspecting the circuit boards. If you find damaged coating it can be...
I have a Schindler inverter and can confirm they will not run on 120 degree split phase. I needed to test one and couldn't do it at work. The plant is 3-phase. Since they will parallel with the utility they must have 180 degree split phase power coming in. The only way around it is to have 3...
Driving an inverter directly from a DC generator will be problematic. You will need some low impedance power source to provide high instantaneous current when the demand on the AC side changes. The generator will fill in the area under the curve so to speak. It can provide the steady state power...
The connections look right. I see no problems there. The first generator I did this battery setup is still going strong after more than 2 years. I hope you just got a bad battery. And I hope Yusa steps up and replaces it for you.
