When I was greasing mine the first shot pushed the zerk out of the hole. It apparently wasn't threaded on just sitting there. Luckily nothing was stripped and I was able to put it back on and worked fine. There are definitely some that are a bit trying to get to.
The new motor we just installed has the same instantaneous start as the old one did so if yours isn't then there's probably a fuel leak down somewhere in the system.
After last year I swore I wouldn't do a paid show again. I had actually worked with them the last couple of years to get a "military" class for the judging and then they screwed us by splitting the group up. Too little too late for me to do their show again.
Since they changed the demil code back in October of last year (that's how I was able to buy mine) he might not have to do that now. Of course he might have a different arrangement than the States do but the reason they started selling so many was the change. I doubt that'd help the SF-97...
Well it's alive again. The mrs tried getting those bolts in I spent an hour on and had the exact same luck - none. When Keith_J got here today we spitballed a couple of different ideas and then he suggested putting the bolts in without the panels and just slotting the bottom of the panel so we...
What's currently on there is lighter than that. More like really faded 383. I'm going to concentrate more on getting it back together and less on how it looks. I prefer driving it more than staring at it.
For those reinstalling your engines I highly recommend you put all the radiator support items back on BEFORE putting the motor in. You don't have to put the radiator in but the side pieces to the support at proving to be a pita. The bottom of the support bolts in to the bottom of the cross bar...
That's a nice test stand. Nice clean shop too :)
Since I'm not doing a full blown restoration and didn't rebuild the engine I'm just going to keep with the OD. If I decide to drop the old engine in a M38 project (after rebuilding it) I'll paint it back the DD color.
Glad to see things are moving forward. I hated shelling out the money for the forklift but it did make things a lot easier.
Check your -20 under Power Plant Removal and Installation. On page 2-100 there is a picture in the upper left of the page showing the rear mounting bolts. In a caption...
I didn't plan on going back to the Detroit color unless I did a complete rebuild. The block on the original motor was still DD blue with just some of the top painted OD. The new motor is OD all over so I'm guessing it was a rebuild at one point. I think I have some RAPCO 383 so might try that...
Well today was an off day. Too much for too long into last night. There's going to need to be some minor tweaks to the mounting and then putting all the misc crap back on it. I did find a smaller length oil filter as the 1st one I got was close to not fitting above the frame rail. Also...
