Finally got the other 2 out. Last time I try doing that. I have a huge amount of respect for the mechanics that had to work on these in the service. I'm sure they had the appropriate tools for the job but most Company level guys probably had to do everything with the engine still in the Goat. I...
Keith over today to get the pistons/sleeves out of the old block. What a PITA! Finally got one out. The sleeves appear to be sticking from the partially melted o-rings at the water jacket.
My next project is convincing Kent to just let me drop it off (whatever IT is) at his place and pick it up when it's done. That'd be a whole lot less stressful. Don't worry, all of my projects are common things that you can just go down to NAPA and find parts for.
I finally got my oil pan gasket (that I ordered over a month ago). Since the motor is already in I guess I don't really need it but for $8 I can stick it in a drawer in case the need ever comes up. It took flipping it around 3 times before I got the holes to line up. It definitely only goes...
There is a guard for the buss bar I just have it removed for the photos. If you ever need to access it I'd much rather have it here than on the back of the tub under the radiator.
I don't have the MWO as it had already been performed on my Goat when I got it. I believe m38inMaine might have a copy (or someone in one of the other Goat threads).
I was asked for some pics of the MWO moving the buss bar to the side of the engine compartment so here they are:
It's located on the driver's side just under the bilge pump hose.
My mistake, it's actually in Gatesville (I've only been there once). No one seems to know the name but I guess the owner is Lujan (loo han) and it's next door to a vet clinic. The vet clinic address is 1300 Hwy 36
Bypass N. Gatesville, TX 76528. If you make it there you'll have no problem...
Bob there's a Surplus dealer outside of Killeen that has stacks of pioneer tools. He's the one I found the WWII shovel that ended up with Tinwoodsman at. I believe they were between $12-$20 depending on what you get. Might not be a bad spot to get a couple extra sets to keep handy. You have...
Then you should REALLY love your machine. We went through the brakes completely and I'm still having issues. The latest is a leak issue at a NEW wheel cylinder. With Dot 5 costing as much as it does a simple fluid leak gets expensive fast.
No word yet but could have been a misfire. If they tried to unload it without following proper procedures the round could have gone off while the breach was open.
Anyone have any further info on this? Two fatalities inside the vehicle after blast on a public firing range. Looks like a Hellcat.

Glad to hear it wasn't the tires. I was under mine Sunday and noticed the left front is cracking on the inside wall. I'll swap it with one of the rears and run it some more but won't chance it on the front or with all the weight on the center axle.
I'm not rebuilding this one. It's going to be carved up and sent to 2 other Goats in progress. I'll let my misfortune be to someone else's benefit. Of course if any extra soft top hardware is floating around I wouldn't be against using these as collateral.
