Ha! An empty M101 really isn't much challenge for a good running 6 cylinder. I do know my limits and since the 1200lb M101A2 was within the 2K tow capacity of the wrangler I figured why not. It really was an easy tow. I kept it 60-65 mph and even managed to pass a few people. Your blazer...
A Blazer won't be any problem. I did 430 miles earlier this month with my TJ and it handled great (Stock I-6). With the surge brakes you hardly knew it was behind you while braking.
Here's what I think is a glimpse of one from a Vietnam motor pool. Look at the far left, you can see canvas overlapping what might be a M109. Looks like they doubled up on M35 Canvas to cover the extra height of the 109.
Well, I had such a great time recovering that M105, and I've healed up from my hernia surgery, I decided to hitch up the Jeep TJ and do the trip again for a M101A2.
Here's some picks from the Mohawk Service Stop in NY on I-90, where I'm sitting and uploading them. She pulls pretty...
This, when the accessory switch is on to run the fuel pump, which is SOP when draining water from the original peacock canisters.
The peacock opening directs the pressurized fuel downward.
The crack when the spin-on purge screw is opened directs the pressurized fuel outward.
Having made the mistake of mixing petrol contaminated fabrics with other laundry loads before, these went through a cycle by themselves. The wife detected the smell when she opened the washer and washed them a second time with a boost of Oxy Clean. She was surprisingly Ok with the incident but...
Like others had said there are spin-on fuel filters with purge screws.
However, when draining I recently discovered it's not advisable to follow SOP by turning on the accessory switch to pressurize the fuel system with the tank pump. Turning the purge screw with the line pressurized will have...
Welcome to the site! Nice truck.
I tested the waters for a CUCV recently with the wife (showed her a picture of a K-5). It didn't work out for me so well but maybe someday I'll get there...
Pretty sure I saw one there on craig's list three weeks ago. I was in the Ft Drum neighborhood picking up a M105A2 and saw it while scanning for trailer cover.
My 109A3 came with rusty thumb screw hose clamps around the dog bones. It's a 66, rebuilt in 85, that's what they might have have been using before Zip ties were more common. When I replaced my lines I used Zip ties.
I suggest cleaning and blasting compressed air through the axle vent(s) to make sure those work.
One wheel I had stopped leaking after I did this. The leak had persisted after I repacked the bearings and plugged the race hole.
I'm thinking most of you guys missed the part that the OP is looking for an insurance provider who will work with him despite his misdemeanor DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired) conviction on his driving record.
