I had a moment of stupidity when I started one with too little fuel in the tank. K12 was energized by the low fuel switch. Kept wondering what was going on. It was a sunny day and I couldn't see that the fuel alarm was on.
I've not had the chance to work on a 803 yet so I'm not going to be able to offer much first hand info there.
What I can offer is that a Propane generator will eat a hole in your wallet that you WON'T like. I have a number of friends that have all found out about that the hard way. You will do...
I don't have anything against interlocks. Just pointing out they have more risk than transfer switches. That is all. No condemning them nor am I suggesting that they shouldn't be used. Only providing my thoughts from experience.
You rightly point out that properly maintaining the electrical...
There are more potentially dangerous failure modes with an interlock setup versus a double ended transfer switch. I'm not at all condemning their use. I have a breaker interlock on my system. With that said if I was building a system from scratch it would absolutely have a transfer switch...
Mechanical failures are a problem with breakers. One of the things done in industrial applications is to exercise breakers on a yearly basis and load test them every 5 years.
Before starting this test go to the breaker panel and feel each breaker with the back of your hand. Make note of any...
The breakers protect the conductors and by code you aren't allowed to install a breaker that exceeds your conductor rating. So if you are running 6ga copper then you have to use a 50a overload. To jump to a 60a you would have to use 4ga copper. That would also exclude you from using a 50a RV...
I agree with R Racing that the master switch is not flashing the field. After the engine is running you can throw the master to "START" and see if it flashes?
Do you have any photos of the unit you can post? Do you have the fuel cut solenoid like you see in this image (this is an 802 but similar)?
This won't cut and paste nicely from the manual. Have you checked out the meter itself?

Looks like the nut is a M8. You should be able to find those at your local hardware store. Get both a fine (1mm) and coarse (1.2mm) pitch. I've not seen anywhere that info has been listed. If I was going to bet I would bet on it being a 1mm pitch.
Get a higher than standard grade.
