I changed out the corn grease for gear oil but I think I need to go back to corn grease.

The things that can leak there are motor oil, steering gearbox oil, coolant, or fuel from the IP.

Try double clutching into 5th and see if it goes. That will give you a clue until you can pull the cover.

Make sure the brakes are working well and all the fluids are at the right levels.

My engine just has a little "smoke" drift out of the slobber and oil cap (if removed) when the engine is hot in the winter. Nothing when cold.

AAA has saved me a fortune on tows for our old van. I think that privately owned military vehicles are difficult because so many people have no clue about them.

Mine doesn't start too easy below about 30 degrees. I just give it a little shot of starting fluid and it fires right up. It just needs a little something to fire off the diesel.

Do you know anyone with an acetylene torch? If you pull the bed and heat the frame at the bends you might be able to get it straight.

I would have bet money #4 would work. Try the phosphoric acid. It should eay the rust way and free the arm.
