I think he is looking for that "unique WOW" factor. Deuces are great (I have one myself) but you can see them all the time. There aren't that many Goats running around.
The motor and transmission, standard Detroit Diesel and '60s era GM 4 speed, are the easy things to work on. The front steering box is directly below the steering column and you need to take the driver seat out and crawl in under the brake pedal to check the fluid. These tend to leak so much...
I second dmetalmiki regarding speed. Trust me the stock motor puts out as much speed as you'll ever need hauling people. We had mine up to around 40mph going cross country this weekend and for the driver it felt like floating on air, but for the people in the carrier it was a very hard surface...
No. The camera picks up the sound and since it's just a couple of inches from the rotars you get all of it. You can hear the blades on the ground even from 60-80' but once it gets very high you can barely hear it at all.
Here's a little quad copter video from the air show this weekend. It was pretty windy but I had a limited window of flight time while the RC Model club was flying theirs. You can tell from the flags what I was fighting against. Next time I'd like to take a lower level fly by. If someone else...
The trailer is 7' wide at the fenders. The Goat hubs stick out a little further but they're over the fenders so don't cause a problem. The tires do rub on both fenders but I'll live with that. The trailer is rated at 10,500lbs. With the curb weight of the Goat at 7200 I'm pushing the edge of...
It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. What the meter says for mileage isn't worth much when talking about a 30 year old vehicle since there probably isn't any documentation on it. And with out photos it's like asking "how long is a piece of string?" Not enough info to give an answer.
Loaded up and ready to head out tomorrow morning for the 26th Annual Central Texas Airshow in Temple, TX. This is one of the best events our local MVPA chapter does every year. We'll have a large group of vehicles including the MKT that'll be cooking up breakfast Saturday and Sunday. Hope...
Before the Goat went to the blasters we had the brakes working pretty good. At some point while it was there one of the wheels apparently bled down and since I was in a hurry to get it painted before Muster there wasn't much time spent on them. I was able to move it around easy enough using...
Thats great. The only thing I've done so far is drive it on and off the trailer and move it around a bit. Just got the brakes working well enough to get it up to speed but still leary of the tires.
Looks like you fit under there better than I did. I see they used some of my yellow paint on your shifters.
While you were down there did you check the steering fluid? I replaced mine with the JD Cornhead grease and it steers much better and no longer leaks.
In Texas you need either a Class A or Class B license depending on whether you're going to haul a trailer or just drive the truck. It does not need to be a CDL if the truck won't be used for commercial purposes but still needs to be one of the above. A Class C (regular driver's license) won't...
