You have a realistic expectation for the deuce. Pulling out the backhoe depends on just how deep it's stuck.

Some aftermarket locking tabs are made incorrectly. The two pre-bent tabs are bent too close to the center. They won't slide over the inner nut.

There are quite a variety of trails. Most are just fine for 5 tons. Some of the smaller Jeep trails are more CUCV or Mutt sized.

It could be a leak in the solder joint of the radiator. Coolant can leak from the front, left side (oil cooler), or the right side (intake manifold) of the engine so be persistant and you'll find it eventually. I'd check in this order. 1-Hose clamps and other things you can tighten with a tool...

I say remove the driveshaft. If the driveshaft still makes noise, done. If turning the parking brake drum makes noise, then it's narrowed down some.

The 5 ton will haul more if you're looking for a real heavy duty work truck. For medium duty a deuce is fine. Parts for the deuces are plentiful. I agree on researching the cost of insurance, plates, etc. That may be the deciding factor.

My deuce has an LDS and c turbo. It will get up to 13 psi boost on the highway at almost 1,200 degrees egt.
