    Anybody ever painted a VIC-1 system?

    They make very tiny Q Tip like paint brushes for model painting. I bet one of those would be perfect for repainting the letters.

    My first instinct would be that they used DOT 3 since that's what the put in every car that comes into the shop. Unless you told them it takes DOT 5.

    The can is intact except where the screws and SO-259's go through the can. It might not be totally water tight but you can carry it through a pouring rain with no problem.     Congrats. I'm also a General. I'm studying for the Extra. I have a RT-524 in the deuce but also have provisions to use my Icom 706 and LDG tuner. I recently mounted them in an ammo can for easy transport, storage, and moving between the van and the deuce. 73's KC0ERE

    Rust! Am I done for?

    Wow. I can't believe he took the new glass back. The best way to fix the rust is to cut out the bad metal and weld a new piece in. The next best thing is to clean the rust up as best you can. Then prime and paint. Whatever bad metal is gone can be patched.
