IMHO, I think you bring up a good point; that being, what type of materiels and /or design is going to perform the intended purpose of ROP--- to protect vehicle occupants in a rollover.
Something could be fabbed to look and maybe act like an ROP and maybe give driver and occupants a sense of...
That my friend is designed to prevent falling objects from crushing the the cab. Sorry if I seem a bit blunt or rude but that thing will just fold one direction or the other in a roll-over.
HEY--- CONGRATS!!! Now yer' livin'!!!!!!!!!
Got my CDL many moons ago before the DOT got involved (1988?) and even though we had to do the driving test with DMV examiner, the test wasn't as involved as now, e., g., air brake, ect.,---- drove around the city streets of Banning grinding a few...
Hmmm... well I'm not a lawyer or design engineer but something here you guys might have a serious look at if you are interested in a TRUE ROP;
Model - 651G
Configuration - Open bowl
Engine - 550HP
Capacity - 32yds struck, 44yds heaped

This is a heart-wrenching tragedy for any family or closely knit group like the many good folks here on SS. But I am reminded of a personal family friend who died some years back in another tragedy involving hang-gliding. Hand-gliding was more than our friends Mike's hobby--- it was his passion...
Had this same problem on my 1-ton GMC 2wd, and after days of looking and searching for some phantom front-end problem I discovered----------- it's the disk brakes! Caliper(s) were rusted and hanging up, anti-rattle spring(s) missing or rusted, pads gone bad--- whatever--- look at you front...
Great story from ALWAYS exciting--- NELLIS! (happy ending too!)
Liked that R134 cannister trick, wonder if you could elaborate on that device? Photo maybe? And I agree--- Cris is a VERY accomodating guy--- awesome!
:beer:And Sgt Mic--- even awesome-er!!!!!!
Many happy returns!
Ok, here's the sum of my research; yes I have looked at the McMaster catalog and there are similar pins which could suffice, but they're not exact. Their prices seem reasonable though.
A local guy with a fastener store has similar pins but they would need to be moddified by cutting length and...
Ok then, so I guess the question needs to be asked; who or which vendor DOES NOT sell Chinese junk? AC-Delco stuff is re-maned, overseas, and arounf $200 a pop. And it looks to be impossible to get NEW Made in the USA units, so where do us CUCV guys go for a quality starters?
I for one DO NOT...
Unless you just need a quick-fix for now, I think it should be mentioned that if you put in a starter and leave your chewed up flexplate/flywheel in place, you will shorten the life of the starter and possibly create more headaches for yourself like a broken starter bolt in-the-block. Fair...
Not right now Rip, but when I do I like the idea of bidding one day and picking up the next! And wouldn't that be awesome if some other cool stuff came off the EUC requirements... (thinking maybe a deuce or two in my driveway?)
Replacing the flywheel/flexplate--- in vehicle--- is not that terribly difficult. Go to The Diesel Page and get their Troubleshooting and Repair Guide, you won't regret it. Not super technical, it's kind of like the 'For Dummies' books for diesel engines. So if you really want to learn the...
This is one of my favorite boards and run by some real decent guys. They did a Blazer rear tank swap into a 1/2 ton, (I believe) but maybe this link can give you some ideas.
