    WD40 paint refresh

Speaking of organic stuff to make it shine..... I was pouring WVO (Waste Veggie Oil) into the fuel tank of the Deuce and slipped causing a significant spill. While I was going to fetch some hot water and Dawn Dish Soap to clean up the fuel tank, Soldier B, who hadn't been with me for the...

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

Multi-Fuel. I like that. We happen to have a spare MF still in the can that we got when we won our Deuce at auction. IF.... and I must emphasize - IF it is "for sale" the Multi-Fuel would simplify any maintenance learning curve and spare parts inventories. Got it. Thanks.

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

Huh. I don't remember saying it was FOR SALE. I know that "everything is for sale for a price." But whose saying that old lady is for sale? rofl:naner:rofl:jumpin:

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

...but the air breather is on the wrong side for the M816's powerplant. Now I'm corn-fused.

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

Thanks for that. OliveDrab mentions only difference between M62 vs M543 was boom configuration, but it seems the air breather and spare tire mount vary too.

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

Thanks, BigMike! Also, the M543 pics at OliveDrab.com show the front bumper mounted vise in only one shot. The base plate seems to have been standard equipment, but the vise seems seldom present. (maybe a high theft item??? LOL) Thanks again. John

Wrecker I.D. Help Please???? M62 or M543 maybe???

Spotted a Wrecker today and am trying to determining just what M-Series it is. Here are the two photos I have. . Unfortunately, these are the ONLY photos or for that matter the ONLY information I have about the truck. The possibilities I've considered are: M816 - NOPE, the Air Breather is...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Glad to see that the "argument" is cooling down here. i am reminded of a few noteworthy points. 1. The TITANIC was designed by engineers. (Take that however you'd like.) 2. We are all just a bunch of little kids in adult bodies trying to do the best that we can.... The playground (the SS...

A somber reminder. Thank you for bumping this for those too new to the SS to remember. I pray his passing was not in vain, but a stark reminder that this hobby is actually serious, yes, life & death stuff. Be safe out there. Vaya con Dios ! (Go with God!)

    Name this Trailer ?

I too thought about playing the name game, but bit my tongue. Now that y'al have started, I simply cannot remain silent..... Some suggestions: Taylor the Trailer - OR - Omega (the end)

    HMMWV anti theft devices?

Parts can be stripped from any vehicle not adequately secured. Vandalism has not yet been mentioned, but is worth your consideration as well. I personally prefer the idea quoted above. Find a secure location. You can use the MEMBER MAP button in the tool bar at the top of every SS webpage to...

I used my super secret decoder ring and came up with HardWare. Maybe the OP (Original Poster o the question) will chime in and confirm or refute this deciphering.

Applause for the team player you are, Artisan. Sharing expenses on detailed item improvements is a great idea. Hope you find good partners in this. John

    Supplies for a Long Trip

Wolfgang, Our condolences to you and your family. I pray that the memories you carry will be precious and, in a sense, live on in a different yet similar loving tribute of a military vehicle. Each time you drive or tinker with your green iron remember those you have loved and lost. Blessings, John

    MV security

Weekend Security Detail..... It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.... . . Pumpkin LOVES the XM-818's running board/step and the deck behind the cab. He's been missing the tool box since I removed it to access the fuel tank selector switch. It'll be reinstalled soon though.
