Well I guess one way they're going to beat GL is by starting the bids at $1200 instead of $25. Maybe they're start the ones with KNOWN mechanical issues lower but the days of buying a running, driving MV for under a grand appear to be gone unless you fish in the GSA pond.
The discussion of GL losing the rolling stock contract to Iron Planet has been going on since it first happened, months ago. The situation of "Iron Planet" dealing under a sub-name of "Gov Planet" has also been mentioned but apparently no thread started as such (in case you did a search). So...
Having had both, the deuce is definitely harder to drive just due to the power steering issue. If you're having to navigate a parking lot the size of the truck isn't as big a difference as how hard it is to turn it. The big issue for the 923s is, depending on your state, how hard it is to get...
Got an update from the buyer outside of Houston. Apparently the steering assist ram is leaking now. Not a lot more than seepage and he knows to keep an eye on it. He was actually making good time and said it was holding steady at 65MPH on I-10.
Well 5 months later and I let the truck go. Too hard with my MS to get the Class B license so I'll try a LMTV if they start selling cheaply enough again. A member from AL bought it and just rolled out of the drive. Sad to say I really "EFF'd" up just before he got here though and made myself...
Welcome! I actually lived in Rushville from 1972-1974. Went to Havens Elementary (which I hear is an apartment building now) and was in 5th grade when they opened the new elementary school on the north side of town (of course that school is now 40 years old if it's still there).
I second the...
You can also take a piece of what you're painting to Home Depot and they can color match it. That way if it's faded the new paint will also match the faded color. If you're trying to paint the entire thing back to it's original color try taking a it apart enough to find a protected spot for...
Keith_J is the best in the area I know. But having said that I can usually get any advice I need here as THE CUCV experts all reside inside the ether that is SS.
Keith_J fabbed one up similar to this for me. Only one pic as he's borrowing the trailer at the moment. You can use a single bolt or detent pin to hold the bracket in then pop it out when you want to take it off. I need to make a quick release wiring set up so the light will work but other...
When we demilled them at Ft Lewis back in the '80s they'd cut them in half and you could buy the 2 pieces and folks would weld them back together to make a "whole" unit. A running, driving, uncut M151 is well worth $2500 in my opinion. One of the big rust out spots on these is the battery box...
This one does as well but I'm generally more interested in the cool. There isn't a lot of days here where it's so cold I can't really work inside the shop.
