    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

OK, got the new U joint installed. Here is a quick video of the actual play in the U joint and what it looked like when I got it taken apart. She drives like a totally different truck now. I always thought I was hearing the chains on the rear tailgate slapping against the back.. I guess not...

    Tire safety.

Original post was informative, although I would never plan on welding on an inflated tire I had no idea that could happen, good to know!

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

Thank you again guys for your assistance and persistence in telling me to check EVERYTHING! U joint has been ordered and should be delivered by Friday thanks to Erik's. I'll post up a pic for a before and after. Weird how the driveshaft can reverberate a sound and make it sound like something...

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

Do you see what I see…. Found it.. Now just need to order a new U joint.. You guys were right it wasn't inside but sure as heck sounded like it. It was the one connecting to the pumpkin on the rear diff. There is a little play in it which is causing the ping sound..

NDT, I'll check again but when I put my hand on the driveshaft and make the sound again it's hitting the palm of my hand, whatever is in there.

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

I think it's the rod or shaft that is inside the drive shaft, I wish I could see a cut-away from one but from looking on other sites I believe the inner shaft is held in place with rubber bushings, perhaps one or more of those failed which is allowing the inner shaft to be a little loose and...

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

I was literally under the truck and turned the drum for the parking brake and the clink/clank definitely came from inside the drive shaft. As soon as I put my hand on the driveshaft and did it again I could feel the inner rod hitting against the outer part of the driveshaft. I took a video...

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

So whats the solution? New Driveshaft? High Speed, that is kind of funny though..

    Driveshaft Clanking Sound

OK, I have figured out the hard part, where the sound is coming from. When I turn the driveshaft quickly by hand I get a clank sound where the inner tube of the driveshaft it tapping against the outer tube. Only happens in low speeds when starting off or going from forward to reverse. I assume...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Do you have a battery maintainer/charger that de-sulfates? I have brought both my deuce batteries back to life with it. The Battery Minders are the ones I use. I use two 12v chargers every now and then and it keeps them both nice and fresh.

    Remote Brake Reservoir Location?

Right next to the driver seat, in-between the seat back and the side that meets the door, the curved part. Just enough room there for it and I see the level every time I get in the truck, part of my SOP now.

Finally coming to fruition!! Getting a Deuce!

The hardest thing to do with a deuce is driving it and NOT smiling! Congrats dude!

    Value of truck question

Your hardest part will be how much the owner "loves" the truck. Perhaps ask him what he thinks it's worth, you'll know if you are even close or not. If he thinks it's worth $15K and you have a budget of $5 then??? We all here would love to see some pics.. may be able to give ya a better estimate.
