First off, let me say, the deuce probably wasn't the smartest choice for someone with Muscular Dystrophy (Adult onset FSH), but I had been looking at MVs for years and wanted something I could work on as time and health permitted. I am still in decent shape health wise and have no problem...
I do not have a build thread. I guess I need to put one together. I'll need to look through my receipts so I can give proper credits to those who supplied my parts. I have only posted a few pics in random threads on the site, like the "What did you do to your deuce" thread.
Thanks again to M35A2-AZ. My original seal measured 3/8" x 7/16", so I went with McMaster's closest, 3/8" x 3/8", part number 8694K138. Looks pretty good. Here are my results.
So I just painted my glove box assembly after sandblasting it. I had intended to put the old rubber seal back on the door, but when I dug it out today, I realized how bad it looked. The rubber itself is in decent shape, but it is caked with rust. Has anyone found a replacement seal for these, or...
Had these sandblasted last fall. Finally dug them out, cleaned them up, and painted. These are the last pieces to put back in the interior. My first time using the Rapco 383 spray cans. Turned out pretty nice for a rattle can.
Any update on a means of easy ID for the SS members? The thread has been quiet for a while. I plan to attend, with my youngest boy. Will be my first time meeting anyone in person. I live about 2 hours south of Louisville. Don't want to miss the chance to speak to anyone.
I have only been a member for about a year and haven't been able to attend a rally yet, but I feel like I know a lot of you just from being on the site. I hate that I have missed an opportunity to meet such an awesome guy in person. I am also at a loss for words. My thoughts and prayers are with...
So it appears that the "newer" pump turns out to be an "older" pump.? Tore the original air pack down today, and it looks like every other one I have seen on the site. Problem is, it was full of water. Pretty nasty on the inside. Won't know if it usable till I clean and hone the cylinder. The...
So mine is an older version? If so, where do I get a replacement part? Or will one of the parts included in the rebuild kit work? I assumed this air pack was newer than the one on my truck. Bought it off fleabay for $70. It was very clean. Looked barely used. I looked at a lot of places online...
It is the long pump. I did have the thought "a stray part got mixed in?", but that appears to be the part in this diagram. I have another air pack. Thought about tearing it down and seeing if it is the same. But the part, with the arrow, is not something I have seen mentioned anywhere else...
So I decided to let my local machine shop tackle my air pack rebuild. I know, should have done it myself, but the combination of my health, work space, and too many other projects made the decision for me. So they called me and said a part was missing from the rebuild kit, to come and look at...
I bled the entire system last fall when I installed the air pack just to be safe.
Pulled the air pack off today. Had fluid coming out of every hole. Taking it to a local machine shop to have them rebuild it. Decided to rebuild the master cylinder for good measure.
Thanks guys. Would also explain the excess fluid coming from the slobber tube last time I drove it. Just put that air pack on last fall, but I bought it used (only $70, but looked almost new). Guess it's coming back off. Already have the rebuild kit.
Okay, I posted something similar to this last year. My health has kept me from doing any work to the deuce, so I still haven't diagnosed the problem. The truck starts and runs fine, but when you shut off the engine, there is a loud gurgling noise that seems to be coming from the turbo slobber...
Another welcome from Kentucky. Bought my deuce from your area about a year ago. Always thought I was mechanically inclined. I've found its a learning process every time I fix something. But that's what makes it fun.
