Where the rear driveshaft ujoint straps on to the axle, is there supposed to be a tab or groove that keeps the caps from sliding?
Mine keeps sliding out, but the strap bolts stay tight. The front has a tab but nothing on the back. Is that normal?
On a m1009.
Sounds like it might be slipping too much. Before i rebuilt mine, it started slipping more and more until it wouldn't move at all. You should be able to break it loose in gravel just a bit.
47mph does seem a bit high.
I don't know if it would work for an automatic, but to see if your clutch...
If you want some cheap ones you could always get some retreads. I got a set of 33s for $400. I've had them for a year and they haven't exploded or anything.
Ultra Grip Tires, Retread Tire | TreadWright, Inc.
I ended up taking mine out and having a shop do it for $650. They gave me a different th400 but it works alright.
I wanted to do it myself but it came down to me not knowing what I was doing and I didn't want it to sit in the garage for a long time.
Here are some good pictures and stuff I...
I like nasty old blazers. I like buzzing around in my friend's fancy xj's too. At least in the blazer I don't have to tuck my knees up to my chin.
I've got 33s on mine and it is not too much of a turd in town.
Well I can tell you that my m1009 has never (under no circumstances) achieved over 17 mpg. That was one time. 90% of the time it got 16mpg.
With 33s it gets 13-15mpg. Now that diesel is $1.95 i sure wish i could drive it more. Since you are familiar with the mechanical stuff, I'm sure it...
1. When I filled up my new transmission, it took at least 7 or 8 quarts. That is with one in the Tc already.
3. The transfer case took about 4-5ish depending how much you spill. Those $.50 straws are junk.
4. If you stick your finger in the top fill plug on the tcase, it should be about the...
I will have to start saving my pennies. Hopefully I'll find a hiding place by then. My dad was in the guard too and we occasionally go spy all the vehicles out there.
Right now i'm in Ames during the week, but my cucv lives about as far south off 42nd as you can go before hiting the river or...
That thing looks nice. I like when the government puts a bunch of new parts, tires or paint on vehicles before they sell them.
I've seen a few around Des Moines, If you see one on the west side by 42nd that's probably me. There is also a guy with a m1008 around there. I try to hoard all the...
A national guard guy called it a "Thousand Nine". Saved some extra syllables.
Also, some people place extra emphasis on the V for cuck-Vee or humm-Vee.
My sister calls it spot.
Are you talking about this?
Hub Centric vs. Lug Centric
Definition: A wheel that is centered or located on the hub by a machined center hole-as opposed to "lug centered" wheels that are located by the position of the lug nuts alone.
I don't know if you need to find an exact fit on a blazer...
Is there a parking break light? Mine doesn't do anything but that wouldn't suprise me.
As for 33's I've got some on 15x10 wheels and they will rub a tiny bit on the rims since they stick out, plus my springs are sagged. only on turns when you hit a bump. I've had 35's on the same wheels and...
Mine had that problem, it got bad enough where it wouldn't go at all. I just got a rebuilt one and new TC for 650 at a smaller shop.
I was thinking about doing a 700r4 but it turned out to be a bit more work than I care to do right now. Mine had a kind of whine to it like maybe the pump was...
