Sounds like a good plan to me. I forgot which company is the good one, but rough country has a 2'' lift with rear springs for $610. I think tuff country has just the springs for about $550.
I know a guy that uses tuff country on his jeeps but it depends what brand you like.
Do the adjustable vaccum modulators work? I heard they let you adjust 2-3 mph.
Since I got a rebuilt transmission, Mine shifts later which is nice for on ramps but annoying if you want to maintain 35-40mph.
I wouldn't worry about it, my brand new ujoint came apart 2 days ago because I didn't quite get it inthe groves right. One of the caps came off and the driveshaft dropped out.
Ujoints are fairly easy to do, if you get the c clamp press from hatbor freight it works alright. Or if you are...
I would be interested in the results if you go with the glasspacks.
With glasspacks, You have to worry about that raspy, farting noise.
Flowmasters might be smoother and deeper.
I put cutouts on my gas chevy, so my dad can have it quiet, and I can blast people in the car next to me.
You...
You know that as soon as you sell it, it won't have anymore problems. Every time I fix something on mine something else goes bad within 1-2 months.
It must be the diesel and 4x4 options, because my 81 2x4 gas never seems to have problems.
I thought eventually all the parts would be...
When I took my m1009 thruogh colorado to New Mexico, I didn't adjust it. It usuall sits at about 800ft. On one steep pass it poured out black smoke. I accidently put it in neutral and it left a big thick cloud that stayed their for people to drive through. The only problem was I was slowing...
Walmart should do it for about $50. If you just bring in the rims, They can't tell you they wont fit. At least the one around here will mount most anything. I worked at sams club tires and they will only mouent the oem size.
You should put in some new seats. I had a similar hole. I just welded a plate over it and it seems to work.
I put new seats in mine and made my own brackets that seem just as sturdy or more so.
Max payload is what's in the bed isn't it? So you can haul almost 1.5 tons in the bed.
I know they can tow at least a 8,000 lb trailer Because my 81 c20 with a 350 hauled that. You definately do not want to haul anything too big unless you get a better hitch.
It should meet your towing...
It looks like I will attempt to do it myself. I don't have big plans on lifting it or big tire right now. So it should be fine.
Now I'm trying to figure out what I need. Would you guys reccomend a new torque converter? I see somekits have clutches and steels some don't have steels.
Also Do...
I definately won't go to AAMCO. I've not heard good things either. If it somes to it I know there are some good shops around here and I'll likely pull it myself.
Man that 700r4 is tempting though. I'd like the better first and overdrive.
It sounds like It would work better without the 3.08s...
Thanks for the input guys, due to my extreme lack of income, I am leaning towards doing it my self and keeping the th400. Although overdrive would be nice...
Word on the grapevine is a buddy's buddy has a 454/th400/np205 for $800, rebuilt 30k ago. I would have to switch a few parts probably...
The Transmission shop says my m1009's TH400 needs rebuilt. I've been doing some research and I think I might be able to do this over my thanksgiving break. AAMCO wants $1400 to do it.
I always thought I wanted a 700r4, but I am wondering if my tranny was sucking causing me to get consistent...
