White smoke is a lean condition, fuel starvation or air bubbles (sucking air) in the line. If the fuel filters were changed and oil change done by who knows who, and the oil pan plug was left loose, then other things in the fuel system may be as well. Verify everything before you decide the...
Had a similar issue, found the back side of the air compressor base gasket was leaking next to the filter cans. Made it appear as if the cans were the problem but it only showed when I would do highway driving.
As information, classes are 8 to 10 weeks based on territory (additional time for electrification) unless things have changed of recent. They used to do a re-entry class for currently qualified engineers new to Amtrak that only lasted two weeks, but that has been gone for some time now. A 90%...

I worked out of Elizabeth City to Norfolk a bit back in the early 90's, don't let the Kudzu get near the truck...you'll never find her again! Congrats ;)
A bunch of 931's were pulled and re-listed as NO EUC required a couple weeks ago, seems the way they are going on those to clear out the stock. Buddy of mine got one last week and GL has been calling him wanting to set up the time to get it gone.
