Success! Using the Hi-Lift and bracing the opposite side of the tire under the bumper with a 2x6 was the trick. Fell right off once I had broken the bead in two places. The inside of the wheel was in surprisingly good shape. The flap still looks good and the tube looks fine other than the...
Well, took me forever, but I finally got the lock ring off using my Hi-Lift and the front bumper. I think, having done it once, I can do it more easily next time.
However, I'm having a **** of a time getting the tire off of the rim. The Hi-Lift method doesn't work so well b/c the tire wants...
I can't speak for elsewhere, but the mud we have here in Missouri is awful. It's slick, sticky and thick all at the same time. If the lack of traction doesn't get you, the suction will. And, if you're in bottom land, you'll never find the bottom of the ruts because the frame will be buried...
My impression of the mud bogs I've seen is that it's all about horsepower. I don't think there's any way you can get the deuce wheels spinning fast enough to get more than a couple feet once you hit the mud. See if they'll give you a half-mile run at it.
Take pics and video, if you can.
Took the boy (3) for his first ride today. He LOVED it. He was waving at everyone in the neighborhood on our way out and I even let him shift gears a few times on the backroads (with dad's help). I think I have successfully brainwashed him. Between my military trucks and grandpa's bulldozer...
Well, I changed the fluid to see what might come out of there. Does this look like a problem to you guys? :)
Anybody got a transfer case near Kansas City, MO?
Did you ever figure this out? I've got a similar issue. Will shift into HIGH and NEUTRAL just fine, but will not go into LOW whether it's moving or stopped.
I tried that a bit when I first noticed it. I can feel the teeth try to grab and it will even move the truck a little. I suppose that's the syncro "catching". But it won't engage all the way.
Is there anything that could've dislodged in there that is blocking the travel of the slider...
Okay, took the set screw out and the shift rail slides easily into all three positions. Crap.
What could be blocking the shift fork down below? I looked at the parts diagram, but it's hard to tell exactly what the fork would encounter first. Is it possible that a syncro or gear could just be...
How about this.....what if I take the set screw out so the shifter shaft slides freely inside the clutch fork? Then I'll know for sure if the spring/ball detent deal is an issue.
