Kenny, I'm heading to Camp Blanding on Friday the 13th to turn in some equipment. Staying at Blanding for a class on Sat and coming back to WPB Sunday afternoon.
Let me if I can help.
There is a ground strap on the engine, rear top pass side to the frame under the exhaust down pipe.
I added a ground strap from the same place on the engine over to the firewall.
Worked on the install for a few hours today. Only have a few things to do. Biggest will be removing the brush guard and grill to hook up the new oil cooler hoses to the oil cooler.
Check the three nuts that hold the injection pump. Make sure they are tight. If one is loose that could be your oil leak. As for the fuel, I think it is from the check valve. Good call on replacing the oil pressure unit now that the intake is off.
I just went ahead and replaced the seals now that I had the engine pulled. it's just easier to do it now than later. Not sure if the rear main was leaking, but I had a small leak on the front.
I put some GAA grease on the inside of the seal were it meets the crank, then put permatex #2 sealant on the outer rim of the seal. Used the mallet to start to seat the seal. I then used the old seal to finish seating the seal. You don't want to seat it to far in.
They make a tool to do this...
I messed up when I was seating the rear main seal and the top half went to far in. No way to fix it, so I pulled the seal out. Had to order another one( none of the parts stores had one in stock. Just installed the new seal now for the front seal.
Found another New set of manuals for $212.00 shipped. Got the missing fuel filler part from a junkyard and got the New driver's window regulator in the mail today.
Google to learn about the GM Passkey/Passlock security systems. It kills fuel delivery to the injectors!
Relearn procedure,( key ON for 11 minutes, then OFF for 30 seconds X3) and then....start engine. The Security light should be off.
