Shucks.... it's about 2ce as big as the stock 3053A - it will definitely not fit in the same space, but would work behind any engine with a number 2 bell and I think it's 1.75" input gear.
It's syncromesh, with a sliding gear for first and R.
Well, I did it - I found an overdrive 9 speed airshift, rebuilt, for a decent price, so I pulled the trigger on it. This will go behind the 3208T, replacing the 5 speed spicer I have in there now.
I'm pretty fired up about it. I should have it in sometime in May or June... I want to split the...
RE: price
Hey BTW, I have a 5 ton mil tranny with .69 OD that I am going to be looking to sell here in the next year or so (whenever I find a good airshift to replace it). Do the math - with 46" tires and that OD, you'll be ok for RPM's no matter how fast you want to go.
If you're interested...
I run the 6 lug 22.5's in the rear, and I made my own front rims out of plate centers welded into Dayton shells, to compensate for the wide rears.
PM me if you want more info.
My XL's crowned a fair bit on my buggy at higher PSI's. They're older tires, though. I don't know what good, young carcasses will do, you know, especially under deuce weight.
I had to bend the heck out of my shifter. It comes in right under the dash... if I had left it straight, it would be in the middle of my windshield in dead neutral. Ummm, yeah. Bad.
But, a little work with the torch , and it's totally dialled.
Someone told me a 3208 will fit. :)
I'd also look into the DD V6's. I wish I would have investigated those before I dropped in the 3208. Don't get me wrong - great engine, but you can bomb the bejeezus out of the DD's (again, from what I've heard after I got this thing in there).
Sorry for the late reply.
Getting 16" wide tires to mount on deuce rims will take putting the rim on a fixture, and using an implement to compress the sidewalls. You'll need quarts of tire lube. It will be very, very, very taxing to mount all six wheels. But yeah, it works. The tire will crown...
I can attest that the combats will work with 16r20's - I am using them now on my buggy.
I would be interested in getting ahold of more of these wheels. Please contact me via email - I've been super busy for like 4 months and it doesn't look any better in the new year. Don't worry, it's a good...
Hey guys,
I can only guess that these axles are at about 0º of castor, which isn't working well with radial tires and high speeds.
I was looking at getting some shims made, and they're not terribly expensive:

RE: What
Oh man. I've been spending the past few weeks swapping the 16r20's on my buggy for old, 1940's style combat rims (old school!).
My technique to seat the beads (around the internal beadlock I made from plastic) has been to lay the rim on the ground, and use a highlift between the rim...
Does anyone have a closeup of the front axle? Specifically, is this the axle with a bit of Drop to it, in the knuckles?
One of the trucks of this tonnage had a slight "portal" or drop in the knuckle, IIRC. Is this the one?
