    Oiling the Horn?

Yep... same section as the spools of Flight Line and tubs of Bomb Grease at my local store.

    Train horn mount

Looks good! I like your setup. Now you just need someone to man the camera while you do a run-by to test your horns!

    Oiling the Horn?

Sounds like your solenoid may be sticking and not opening fully. Air horns squealing (instead of sounding properly) is generally a sign of too low air flow (CFM). The gun oil would likely have lubed up the moving parts in the solenoid, resolving this problem.

    CHOCK those tires!!

You can also make a jig to hold the engine stop cable out for those emergencies where you REALLY need to stay stopped. (Also is handy for shows) Just split a piece of copper tube down the middle, cut to length of just a bit farther than you normally pull out your ENGINE STOP. Kill the engine...

    No, pushing to save fuel!

    Are the M818 12volts or 24volts?

Two sets of 2x 12V batteries wired in series gives you essentially 2x 24V batteries. Wiring those two sets in parallel with each other gives you one 24V power supply that can source twice the current.

Shut off Deuce when Refueling, or let it run?

I always shut any vehicle off while I'm refueling, including the Deuce. (Even if I'm on a long trip.) I don't bother idling for 5 minutes... at my usual fuel stop, I get a good couple of minutes of idling/low-rev running done maneuvering around the parking lot before I actually get situated at...

To answer your question of what a GP-9 is, Ernie: It's a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive made by EMD in the '50s and '60s. It's prime mover is an EMD V-16 567C 2-cycle diesel, producing 1,750 HP.

    Train horn mount

To talk about size, all of the horns y'all have mentioned (K3s, K5s, P3s, P5s, etc) would fit excellently under the bed. However, none of those would fit in the engine compartment... I'll dig up a good picture that shows how big these suckers are. EDIT Here you go: This Ford Fusion got quite...

    Train horn mount

I just restored a Nathan-Airchime K5LA for a customer... I would've loved to mount them on my truck, but they're darned HUGE. Not to mention that they weigh 40 lbs according to the manual. The trick with these is that they also DRINK air. To get a good sound, you need to feed them with at least...

That is scary. Having seen his posts around since he joined, this is very sad. We'll miss you, buddy. I look forward to hearing more details of the accident.

    2011 GA rally Definite dates???

Can I start a general "2011 Pre-Rally Jibber-Jabber" thread in the GA Rally section to keep all of our way-early conversation contained? Right now it's getting spread across two threads (this and the 2010 After Action Report thread), which is making my OCD start to itch (you know, kind of like...

Maybe you should start with a GPS... I love the Garmin that I occasionally use. It comes in handy when you need it!
