Based on others' experiences picking up trucks from GL, I'd say you almost 100% want to drive up with a car full of tools, parts, and fluids; or, pay someone to recover the truck from the lot for you and get it into driving condition so you can fly up and hop in.
I've had my truck for a year...
Many of the center-cab GE 44-tonners were made in narrow gauge (metre gauge I believe) with low clearance setups exclusively for switching operations in Europe... see wikipedia under "GE 44-tonner"

When the rear end starts to slip, the transfer case automatically engages the front end. I'm not an expert though. Some folks on here have much more Sprag experience--hopefully they will chime in.
Do the latest TMs cover trucks without airshift transfer cases?
You should find the book "THUNDERBOLT." It's by Robert Johnson, one of the leading P47 fighter pilots in WWII, who flew in the 56th Fighter Group--Zemke's Wolfpack--with Gabby Gabreski, the leading ace in the 8th AAF. My neighbor--who was a Jug crew chief in the 56th, recommended it to my dad...
