If only we had that option up here in the Northeast. Anything in yards up here has far more cancer than what I am repairing. Know any yards in your area that would ship cross country?
This!
The pressure sensor is only one (the most common) point of failure on these filter bases. There are a couple of other parts that rely on small o-rings to seal. If they are not sealing perfectly you could still lose prime.
Sounds like your situation improved when you blocked off the...
Just a suggestion.
You do not need to pull the engine to inspect the bottom end. You can pull the oil pan which will alloy you to inspect the bearings, crank, webbing etc. It is a little cramped, especially up front but very doable and will give you a much better understanding of this engine.
Thanks Rick,
That is what I was expecting to hear. Does anyone know of sources for good replacement steel? Any of us in this hobby will likely require some parts at some time or another, especially those of us who live in the rust belt where they are putting down more and more corrosive...
I'm certain folks like Warthog and Antennaclimber will have much sounder council. But based on your pic and symptoms the first thing I would check is whether or not you have an isolated relay. The system works by grounding the relay coil when energized. It sounds like the coil has power...

Glad to hear she is working again.
However, if this is the original IP, you should seriously consider getting a rebuilt unit. There are a number of known issues that Stanadyne addressed over the years including hardening of internal parts to deal with the lower lubricity low sulfur fuels to...
I've been daily driving my M1008 for 5 years. Yes, the Detroit Locker has it's quirks but I do not find it brutal. Just my perspective.
I can't remember where I saw this, but some are questioning the use of a full time locker in the rear with open or selective in the front. Instead they are...
Start simple and one axle at a time (front vs rear). While the symptoms appear similar the root cause may be different.
First, is the alignment shop equipment properly calibrated? Did the person doing the alignment know what they were doing? Yes, I have seen this. A quick check with a...
