All great points, safety safety safety. We all make mistakes and as long as we learn from them I guess that's all that matters. And when we can pass it along to fellow MV'ers it might set off the old light bulb the next time some else is hooking up a trailer.

I looked over the pictures of it again, there is no 5th wheel plate. It has a 45k winch in the back. Also the data plate looks to say it was built in 56 or 58.

Re: RE: Can someone please help me. The wrecker was on ebay but not in NJ, It can't be a M819 as it was advertised, there's no 5th wheel plate on the back, the winch was mounted there. Also it was advertised as a M63 M819 and it has a Continental 6602 engine. Hmmmm. I'll be looking through the...

Can someone please help me. I'm looking at a wrecker I was told that it was a M819/ M63. Can someone please explain to me the difference between a M819/ M63 and a M816. I see that the M819 was an older wrecker (looking at the data plate) but I'm confused I thought the M816 would be older than...

So is the OA331 different then a 6cylinder out of a 5ton? By the way it's looking good. Keep us posted on the progress.

Is the Oshkosh truck able to drive down the highway? Those things are massive. I remember climbing around on one at the motor pool but never got I ride. Was the truck purchased at an auction?

Thanks it was just an idea, I may look at changing the gas engine to a multi fuel or some diesel engine as I learn more about waht was offered and what would make a clean efficent install. Thanks Chad

Not to steal this post but how did the 3208 cat work out? I see one for sale locally and thought that It may make a good swap for my gas engine in the 5ton.

Do you access the which controls through the bed?
