I have been doing some digging for my own m170's history...thought you might find this interesting.
here are all the M170 serial numbers I have found along with their respective dates...

I am singled on 1100's
IMO the main diffference on the road is a reduction in understeer. I haven't burned enough fuel since the swap to know about mileage changes.

at 9mph the flange should be turning at 535rpm based on the assumption(big one too) that the tires are 38" tall and your speedo is accurate.
Of the engines you are likely to see.....
I would shoot for the
LDT465 C (assuming you have already lost, or do not need your ability to hear)
or
LDT465 D (basicly the same w/o the shriek)
just my 2cents , but I would not want to have to transfer a 200-300 lb wheel & tire from one part to the next and line up lugs at roughly 7' off the ground.
