Lifted the front end and the tires moved with resistance. I let air out of the brakes and wheel spins freely. So, I didn't do anything else. Took it for a ride and didn't have any smoking hubs. Must have locked up when I hit the brakes hard the one time.
My 923 also has this. Why not 3 Detroit lockers? I understand and ARB can be switched on when you need it but is there a down side to having Detroit lockers in front?
I drive mine on and off road. I don't go in deep mud but have been in at least 2 feet of it. I never had to put it in all wheel...
Had someone else tell me that it's the bearings too. I guess after 30 years they go bad. Are they the same bearings as the rear? If so I happen to have a pair of new ones.
I was talking to someone on line and they said it might be the bearings in the front causing the smoke...maybe
I'll lift the front up and shake the wheel. Then I'll take the cap off and check the outer bearing.
I still haven't figured out the air pressure problem.
UPDATE M923A1 front hubs smoking and air pressure in gas tank question
Took my M923 (marine with fording kit) out for a ride and noticed smoke coming front 2 hubs. Seems like the brakes are on but are not really noticeable and it smells like brake pads. Also, I noticed that my air is coming out...
I'm going to ask another question about balancing also. My M923 Marine Has lockers and that's why at may bounce more but I want to balance the tires. The bounce was pretty bad and obviously noticeable around 20 to 30 mph. So, I added the tire weights that bolt on each of the rims (outside of rim...
Many types of lockers based on what causes them to lock up...mechanical, electric, air...
If you have a "2 wheel drive" vehicle its really 1 wheel drive unless you have lockers
If you have a "4 wheel drive" vehicle it's really a 2 wheel drive unless you have lockers
any serious off road...
not really ... I can run the green lights or the led lights or both. The led round lights do a good job of lighting the entire cab but not too bright where it blinds you.
cleaned out my battery box and made a frame for the batteries. Will have all 4 batteries in it. 2 for the lights on my control panel. The other for the truck.
