I intend on being there, but not sure I can get there by 5pm. That's a Thursday. Sounds like a good day to drive the large car to work, quick change of clothes, and head to QSL. Somebody same me a spot so I don't end up parking @ Home Depot.
First of all, welcome to the site. As for the speedo, yours is just busted. You need to determine just what part of it broke. Cable, plastic gear in the trans, or the speedo itself. The vehicle is almost 30 years old. Things get brittle. If you keep the 1009 for any amount of time, you will be...
I use commercial truck coolant which contains SCA (supplemental coolant additives). A must for engines with cylinder liners. As suggested by searls84, test strips are very useful to maintain the proper formula. Too much is just as bad as not enough.
If the paint is CARC, use brake cleaner to remove any paint and/or adhesive residue. Gently rub with a rag. When too much pressure is applied, the rough texture of the CARC can shred the rag and cause another mess. It will look good until it dries, then the rag residue remains. At that point, I...
Any trace amount of moisture that may settle past the valves will stay at the bottom of the system and be removed when the tanks are bled. Moisture in the system comes almost entirely from the air being pressurized (like lines on a shop air compressor) and the temperature difference. As for the...
Stryker- Congrats on your 932. You will likely grow to love it. Read the operator's manual front to back. Lots of vital info there. As for draining the air tanks, do it as soon as its parked and the engine is shut off. Follow the manual for the correct sequence in opening the valves. I leave the...
Safety green is not consistent with any of our trucks. Perhaps some people may go for it, but certainly not everybody. A good option would be doing 2 (or more) different color choices. I am all for the hi-vis colors for work safety. I always carry a class 3 reflective safety vest in my trucks...
No pics needed for this story. While reading it, the video was playing in my head. Glad to hear the mobile man cave is off and running. Many more journeys ahead.
Used units are $2500-3k. You may be able to find a beat up one for less. They are tailored towards over-the-road trucks, to lower operating costs by running off the APU when parked, thus being able to shut off the truck's engine. There are ever increasing laws concerning trucks sitting at idle.
I know you will do it right, there was not even a nano-second of doubt in my mind how it would be. it just never ceases to amaze me the suggestions we get! I love hot rods, too. But never should the two mix on the same vehicle.
I admire the stand-up job you are doing on this project. It's...
High rpm in not necessarily a quick death, but it sure will live alot longer and get better fuel mileage if you keep it in the 'sweet spot", which for a 1009 is around 60-65. As always, your mileage and longevity may vary.
