You sure about that?
From what I've seen in the pics of GA rally, they've got an okay offroading place there. The camping/cooking is top notch. RC is almost the polar opposite - the camping cooking is just okay, and the offroading is fantastic. I've seen RC featured in several national...
Actually, being 100 feet deep in a northern-located lake would make for an EXCELLENT preservative, as there is less oxygen in cold water to promote rust. If it was salt water, the story would be different, but if this is a freshwater lake, chances are the Weasel is in the same condition it sank in.
If I remember correctly it was somewhere off the coast of Lebanon or somewhere closeby there.
I talked to a friend of mine who used to do diving - he says NO GO on the inner tubes for bouyancy. You would need a ton of them, and the chances of them popping close to the surface due to increased...
I'll work on something for the site as far as a call sign list or something. Good luck on the exam!
Will be applying for a vanity call sign within a month or so. My 2x3 technician call sign is pretty lame, and doesn't roll off the tongue easily. Will try for a 1x3, 1x2 or 2x2 to replace it.
Another thing, IMHO, unless you are a diver yourself, I'd hire someone with a lot of diving experience to dive down to it RIGHT AWAY before it gets too cold, to take some pics of it on the bottom, to see if it's worth further effort. If it's rusted apart, wedged in between huge boulders, or...
Wow, this is gonna be cool! Take pics of it underwater when you finally see her. I second the whole lifting with inner tubes idea, but be advised you might have to take a shovel down there to scrape away some of the muck and mud from around the resting area, it might be stuck in it and a...
If anyone wants to help out an unemployed MV enthusiast, I can bring any of the things below. PM me for details, a lot of these are listed in the classifieds...
Will be in the civvy truck again, the deuce in currently listed on eBay so the high bidder will be driving it away next week sometime. Anyways, I'll be needing a passenger seat to plop my ass in again.
Some pics from the event. Pic of me cleaning 1MC out, some others in different rooms working as well. Pics of the torpedo room, the deck (note the new ipe decking that has been slowly going in place). Thought you guys might like...
Not a bad job there. I see a pressure tank next to the breech, is that a firing model?
Sure beats the one in town here that a guy welded together out of scrap. From a few hundred yards away it looks like a howitzer. Any closer, and you can see it's just metal junk welded up in the general...
I'll stop drinking when I have a full set of thank-you letters from all the major breweries in America. Right now, only Budweiser and Coors have sent me one.
DH - I thought your purpose on here was to prevent or delete unneeded posts in military-vehicle related threads, not POST them.
Ratch, that sounds like it. Thanks for the info!
Stan - just something I remembered, I wanted to clear up my foggy memory from a while back. Couldn't remember if...
I remember reading about an episode of govt. waste back in the late 1990s or early 2000s, about a HUGE lot of some thousands of trailers that Uncle bought that were no good. 1-ton trailers or similar weight like the M1101 or 1102s, that were made incorrectly and were unsafe to tow at any speed...
He he, there's one coming up on our favorite auction site that almost has NO decking left. Would be interesting to see a before/after of one needing new decking...
