Jason:
I was not and would never blame farmers my soil roots go too deep. The problem is almost entirely political and I only made that comment because God bless the American farmer I have seen many hungry people with wide smiles when a bag of American grain arrived for them. I still think...
Thanks Mark we all need to remember that GL provides most of us with great deals and service. In the case of the return requirement, I would go to the search function and find out the process for challenging a DEMIL code.
Boy there are some trucks you just wish you could have hold on to or at least find out where they are and what is happening to them. For me it is a 1959 CJ3B I built with my dad back in Indiana.
Up Armored FMTV
Wow this is becomig a great education thread. Bob what would explain the damage to the frame on the FMTV I saw in Afgahistan if it is so robust? I am just curious because when the armor cab was added they also added huge coil springs to augment the leafs. Here are some...
RE: Electronic dieselVS Multifuel!!??
The Air Force buys lots of equipment that we never get to see unless it is while they are flying us out of an airbase for a tactical jump or a spin down landing at a threatened landing strip. Most likely they are going to a ground support role on airbases...
What is wrong with the gunny I do not get the objection. As far as the Ten tons go they were phasing them out of the active duty when I was a lieutenant and I used to go over and climb up and around them when they wound up at the Turn In yard. They are the big boy truck for us to desire since...
I think the whole ethanol issue needs to address the possible hunger problems in third world countries that have depended on surplus grain that is now being brewed into ethanol for E85. It would be really nice if the clean coal consortium can come up with a good way to burn coal in an internal...
RE: Some more pictures of the FMTV
Wow I like your truck! it should have been fielded out to Soldiers and let them make a significant call in what we got. I do like the fact that the engine is there where you put it as if you look at the FMTV the engine and drive componets are not easily...
RE: Some more pictures of the FMTV
Thanks Bob:
I wondered if that is a sleeper cab behind the crew space and what it shares with our FMTV fleet. Also how do you get one beside the obvious big wallet?
Some more pictures of the FMTV
Here are a few pictures showing some issues with the FMTV and it being able to protect the Soldiers. I still am proud of all the efforts our team put together to get them armored up to protect Soldiers and we will live with this truck for at least the rest of my...
Like these?
Are you looking for ones like the on the front of my deuce? You can find them sometimes at swap meets and on egay. I have them wired into the Blackout Drive light circuit.
We had to use our tractors to pull out our Jeep quite a few times it always happened in the bottom lands along the crick.
Very nice set up now all you need is a lowboy to pull the tractor with the M818. I like to see spouses and children enjoying the Military Vehicle I wish I had taken more of...
I am glad you noticed that it was referred to nicely by Soldiers as the Frankentruck since it looked kinda like Dr. Frankenstein built it. I has saved a lot of lives with the hood taking the brunt of the damage and the Soldiers being protected. I have some pictures of the one that you referred...
The M322 would not have any problem with fender clearance...lol I still have to make them for mine to pass inspection. Right now it just sits holding a welder. I think it would look great with big meats with such a small trailer.
Looks Great David, now all you need is the dolly to haul that 5K tanker out back so you can drive all of them from one cheap fuel place to the next. When do we see the truck train pictures now that the snow is gone?
RE: My M818 don
It looks like you are getting ready to move the house.... at least in a couple of the shots, they remind me of the days when I worked for a house moving company prior to going into the Army. Big truck small house... house is moving.
