When I was in Afghanistan I got to climb around on one of the KG 31 mine resistant vehicles in Kandahar that was being used to de-mine Afghanistan. These are run everyday by our engineer Soldiers to help the Afghani people take their land back from the days of the Soviet occupation. I found...
Mike:
Can you post the plot plan I would like my boys to be able to log on and find out where they will be holed up. I sure wish I could be there but that is the way it is in the Army.
Bob:
First off thank-you for your service and for supporting Soldiers.
I did not mean to down talk the truck and we are firmly committed to them as our primary medium truck now. Go back to 1982 I was a transportation 2nd lieutenant in a truck company who loudly complained that our medium...
Great news Matthew:
Have they thought about a dual purpose light that would also be able to be switched to IR so the drivers could flip to a good IR driving light in the same housing?
Well I can tell you that Fort Meade is closer to my home but yes the security is tight if I was home I could check things out for you as I usually go to the comissary there to do my grocery shopping and use the PX. The DRMO/GL lot is a limited access site but the security is not as tight as on...
RE: Re: RE: Brand new FMTV spotted
What a waste we had to tear off hundreds of the pretty Euro cabs to install armored ones on these and then they were close to being over the limit of the front axle.
The MTV wrecker is a shadow of a HEMTT wrecker ask any Soldier who has used both. The 900...
Go for it if you have the money to buy it and stay within your limits there are many opportunities to get one. I missed out on at least fifty before I got mine
Wow what a great way to finally see what Bruce looks like. I missed him at Aberdeen last year and really felt bad about it. Now I am going to miss another Aberdeen and will have to wait longer to meet my fellow Marylander. This was pretty neat seeing that sweet truck I would be smiling all...
I love fifth wheel towing devices and that one looks to be one of the beefiest I have seen. We used the Holmes variant on our M915's. Sure is a nice looking set up and truck.
I had a problem with ours and welded up a small insertable tool to crank it up and down but then my son broke off the tabs inside and I got deployed so until i get home again and see what other fix I can do it is up all the time. I would like to completly replace it with a more durable unit and...
I was thinking of making a box that could be mounted on my M818 by locking into the fifth wheel and tie it down to the frame with binders. Just a thought if I ever get a hold of an old bed. That is the good thing about having two trucks though I have the duece for the bed and the five ton to...
I like it cut my teeth in Oshkosh overalls on a John Deere B on our farm in Illinois and yellow and green hold a special place in my heart. I think it will be a great trailer for you now all you need to do is put a lift kit on it so you can dump it with the wet lines from the tractor. Any use...
It will tow what you want
Here is a shot of my biggest load but it tows very nicely.
Sorry for all of you that have seen it before, and most know I bought an M52 and then an M818 to haul the M127 which is the vehicle of choice for me having cut my teeth on them as a young Soldier
RE: Re: RE: Kenworth 8x8 XM1074 PLS
A big difference is the tires on the PLS are like the HEMTT. These trucks are souped up KW's that use tires that are closer to OTR tires. Also the PLS by Oshgosh was built as a PLS not a KW mated to a British lift system. All in all these are very heady...
