Truck sitting in Binghamton for sale, has blown engine, says has hole in block but I couldnt find it. has the GMC inline 302 six. no tailgate, home made roof, no winch, bed is on it but slightly bent. No pto on it. :( He wants $800.
By the way, I would part with this for $ 1800. Has clear Pa. title.Bumper has been straightened. A work in progress.Have windshield frames that are not rusted, but needs the glass.
If you want to go the cheap route you can find a M211 gasser, 1 -$2000 depending on condition, I got mine , a pair of 1952's , one a wrecked parts truck and one , a good rust free runner for $1500.
RE: Mixing oils?
Dont mix the oils. And to DaveGMC, ,This tranny is huge and heavy built.Dont be swayed by a couple of reports of problems. There are more probs with the 5 speeds from what I hear. I am not an expert on this, but from what I have heard, they are good. Just warm them up before you...
Darn! nobody in Pa.?? I dont think triple A gonna help us. How bout Triple S. (Steel Soldiers Saviours)
I am still gonna push for a Steel Soldiers flatbed or wrecker to get us our parts!!!!
Thanks Westfolk! Yes I am with you on the Dexron.I see what you mean about the shifting, sometimes you just want to stay in that one gear without it constantly shifting back and forth. Such as offroading use.The REB shifter sounds good. Thanks for the info. By the way, I like excavating work...
Serious , I am willing to bring you the fifthwheel parts to Michigan, (my mother lives in Grand Rapids area,) if you could find me the parts I mentioned. Would love to find a decent dump body before I get too much time invested in the one I have, rusted.
About the chassis length, the tractor and the dump looks the same length. Its going to be some work putting a fifth wheel and all the lines for the trailer on though. If you want to come as far as Pa., "Kublo's" has a bunch of wrecked tractors sitting at his military vehicle and equipment place...
Now I'm really confused! I heard that 30 wt. oil used to be recomended and now they say Dextron is the way to go. I know the manual says warm up the truck before using. But- this oil choice is confusing, I think I am going with the dextron trans oil. I have heard more positives about that than...
Mike, would a heavy duty cable be a possibility for actuating your pto? Alot of dumps have that with a 2" knob on floor for it.Is that needed for the dump or the winch? Might simplify things in that tight area.Either case it could work. and allows some flexibility in that area.
