LOL! But the great thing about these things is that even with the bad cab it just keeps going, only needed ONE battery as the other took a charge. As a buddy of mine commented this afternoon, "Hell, just find a bungie cord to hold the door closed..."
I've got a cab that doesn't look to bad on...
Thanks for the photo of the rivited plate, not a problem to do. I'll pull the cab back in shape weld and rivet it all up.
The sticker on the door is illegible unfortunately, who knows where this one has been. Most of the AF trucks at Eglin are much newer but there are more than aircraft down...
Amazing, a year and a half ago I was searching high and low for a decent engine at a decent price. I finally paid better than a grand for one but it too had a bad bottom end... I said to hell with it and started buying whole trucks for that or less, basically a crap shoot but too much fun!
I'd...
But isn't the brace there for the added stress of a ring mount and weapon? As I have no ring mount and, alas, no M2HB .50 MG then won't I be OK just leaving the brace in, pulling the cab into shape, welding up the cracks and maybe adding a reinforcement or two?
Or are you saying a screwed up...
The sleeve behind the exhaust has a very slight rearward bend to it, the mirror tubes have vertical dents but the exhuast is fine... Maybe they hit something with the ring mount but not the exhaust. OR they mashed the crap out of everything and replaced a bunch of stuff, this truck looks like it...
Since it came off of Eglin AFB who knows what all was mounted on it, maybe more than just an M2HB from the looks of this cab!
Maybe this is the excuse to start that crew cab I'd been thinking about but I guess this is the wrong forum for that...
Thanks for the input!
Sorry about no pics, got sidetracked moving an excavator to pull another contractor's excavator out of a boghole...
Here are the pics, the door gap, crack, u-bolts and it HAS the brace but WELDED in by the same beginner welder :P !! I may use this truck for parts but I need to jump it off and...
I searched but couldn't find anything about this, maybe I just missed it...
Anyway, brought home a '67 Duece from GL with a big crack at the diagonal brace plate thingy at the rear bottom of the driver's door opening, the door won't latch and there's a crack at the corner of the door opening...
I'm sorry Cranetruck, I'm missing something, that's the gear selector in an A3, some text was lost.
A stock Cat 3116 isn't going to rev higher than the multi so it's just the 14.5R20 tires on the A3 that make up the groundspeed difference? Is the transfer-case moved back or is that why A3s...
I've done my duty and searched the forums and have only learned the A3 has an Allison, some Google-ing reveals it's an Allison 1545... Now, that's a 4 speed with a 1:1 top gear (industrialautomatic.com), in fact I have one in an International bus behind a 9.0 that's going to be parted out. How...
Ok, where are the comments about how you have to have wide rims for 395/85R20s?!?! :D Are the tires terribly 'crowned' on the stock rims? This looks like a solution to me, especially for those of us mostly off road types as these tires are everywhere, big rims are not...
Thanks for the info... I also suspect that those applications would just about HAVE to be the 727, I've only seen 904s in light duty use. Time to hit the local junk guys! Luckily, Eglin AFB is close by, I bet there are some scrap tugs around here waiting to be unearthed...
The truck models you...
So far it's turned out OK, I still haven't gotten a good driveshaft on it or mufflers so it's just thundering up and down my long drive once in a while... Things are a little chaotic around here, it's the old time thing we all suffer from!
I've decided that the best thing to do in the long term...
My guess is those MH versions, especially the left, exhaust manifolds would be a better fit than what I'm using now. But the welding has been done so I am where I am! But don't ever throw away B-RB Dodge stuff, they ain't makin' no more! My kids are all at friends houses tonight so I'll be...
There's probably an inch and a half between the left exhaust manifiold and the steering shaft. If it needed to be exactly on the centerline I'd have to look at a what is available in stock manifolds for clearance, turn one upside down, etc... Also, with a BB Dodge the width really lets you know...
Got the carb doing pretty well but the driveshaft is whacked... I did some 'relieving' of the yokes on the bench grinder but it sounds like it is still hitting itself or at least vibrating like a ho's dream. Of course, wide open exhaust tends to make the drive a bit hectic anyway, my head's...
Some of you may have seen my earlier posts about potential swaps, Cummins V555, etc but I decided to go the easy way and replace the bad Multi with a good Multi. Problem is, that 'good engine' also had a bad bottom end (oil pump idler-gear shaft had BROKEN) so I was out of luck again and WAY...
