    M1001 Info

What's the skinny on the M1001? Another thread indicates parts are a problem, are they that different from the civillian MAN 30-402 or 502 8x8 trucks? There are truck breakers all over Europe, just like here, freight would be rough but, hey, sometimes it's expensive to march to your own...

M.A.N truck parts needed for restoration

So is the consensus that M1001 parts are very difficult to find and outrageously expensive when they are located?

    Selling M880 No Reserve

My M880 has sat for too long, time to find it a new home after 15-16 years of ownership. She needs some work or would be a great parts machine... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270314521532&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=017

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

I'll take the first $1,500, no problem loading since I have equipment... benton@abh3.$com (remove $) You'll have a few months to move it but this place is going on the market, agricultural land WILL sell even if your house won't!

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

I give up, FOR SALE! This is too much of a project, no time, little money, I'm selling/sold several Deuces too ... What's she worth? I can load on your trailer or even haul for you though I'm restricted by farm plates on the lowboy to a 100 mile radius...

    5 Ton Winch on Deuce?

Area52, is the five ton front winch really that much heavier? I looked at it tonight (in the briars by flashlight) and it just doesn't seem that more massive... The 45k winch is overkill, the truck wouldn't need that muchl and doesn't have the frame for tying off to immoveable objects for...

    Winch Fragged

Yeah, I shoulda seen this one coming as this winch does (did?) get really used pulling this and that out of whatever it shouldn't have gone back into for the infamous 'one more pass, just to smooth it out...' AND I've read here about the danger of using a bolt for a shearpin. Armada and...

    5 Ton Winch on Deuce?

Thanks Doghead, looks like it's been done before so time for the tape measure and some thought... Beastmaster, the data plate says 25,530 lbs w/ 10,000 lbs towed, if my math is right that's 35,530 GCVW. 7 tons of limerock on a Duece dump going 45mph down 6 miles of South Alabama country roads...

    5 Ton Winch on Deuce?

Blew up my Duece winch today (see stock Duece posts) and am dissatisfied... :D YES, if the right shear pin had been in it never would've broken BUT it never would've pulled me out either! It seems the stock M35 winches are on the fragile side (aluminum case, brass gear) requiring the soft...

    Winch Fragged

Bad winch experience today, got the dump stuck and was single handed, dozer wouldn't pull it out alone sooooo I hooked the winch up to the dozer... It pulled the dozer (Komatsu D31P, not a big one) down the hill and then, just as it began to move, BANG!!! Took a look, , $#%^%&@@#, but...

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

Jeepman: There on Eglin AFB they have a storage yard (Range Rd?) right by the Choctawhatchee Bay, pretty neat old stuff on it and a nice view too, old Patton and Sheradin (sp?) tanks, misc. helicopters and boats in various stages of dismemberment AND the latest round of GL trucks, all of which...

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

Pictures of Crusty... Here are some pics of my lovely wrecker. Sorry about the light, we are feeling the effects of Ike here, say a prayer for those folks in Texas since it's headed that way... The level wind for the back winch is in the bed, I'm not sure about all the 'out-rigger' stuff...

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

I'll post some pics of Crusty the Wrecker, embarassing as it may be, then everyone can see just how far $869.00, half a day's work and a bunch of diesel will take you! Oh, and don't forget the $10 to Florida for the oversize permit for my wide lowboy... You're right, I need to check out...

Bought home a pretty rough M543A2 today...

FOR SALE! Too much for me right now, email benton@abh3.$com (remove $) Drug in my M543A2 and now I know why it was cheap! But, of course, I didn't go look before bidding, too busy and GL is always pizzy about getting on base to look, etc... I have a coupla questions that will make the...

Does IP need fuel supply pressure?

The lever under the shut-off cover is really stiff, I've worked it back and forth using a wrench, I'd like to imagine it's getting looser but it's far from springing back to the front... There's no point in turning on the ignition as the dash wiring harness is all hacked and the top of the fuel...

Does IP need fuel supply pressure?

Brought home my latest refugee from Eglin AFB, they're nearing the bottom of the barrel there, this one's rusty as heck , even the top of the fuel tank is rusted out from sitting next to the bay, and weird as it is made by 'Lansing'. But it has a winch and what looks to be a good engine, only I...

What the heck is this on GSA auction?

On GSA auction http://gsaauctions.gov/gsaauctions/aucitsrh/ , described as 'Unimog' but doesn't look like any Unimog I'VE ever seen, though I've only seen about a dozen ever :D The sale ends today so jump in there and bid! If it were close I'd buy it just out of curiosity...
