I know some things you have to be careful blasting because of heat buildup and warping but I can't imagine how you'd get Deuce rims that hot!
I've always kept lock rings with their rims but that's from doing one tire at a time, not by design. If they're all the same I wouldn't worry about...
Yeah, a strong guy can handle one but it's right on the edge of dumb, one mistake and you might regret it for a long time from what I know about back injuries.
Years ago an older buddy of mine drove up while I was wrestling a Ford FE V-8 around on a sheet of plywood by hand. He asked just what...
I'm no turbo expert but I do know that the turbo on the 290 Cummins in my lowboy tractor (well, a few trucks back actually) was HUGE compared to a Multi turbo. My guess is the C turbo would overspeed and very bad things would come about in short order.
The world is full of old Cummins engines...
I've looked around this evening but can't find his info, it's been several years now... I found him on Ebay, he's North of Pensacola, FL but that's about all I remember, sorry.
You might just have to shake the Google tree, here's several I found in a few seconds: Truck Parts Inventory Engines &...
I got my bellhousing and flywheel from a guy dismantling powerline service trucks, not sure about part #s. Also got the air compressor that bolts on the back of the 5.9 IP, thought that might come in handy...
The bellhousing is SAE #2 , the trans adapter #3, I'm sure you could come up with an Allison 545 that would bolt up to one or the other. The catch is the flywheel, you might be adapting the one that the trans was behind to the Multi crank hub, and then there is the starter to turn that flywheel...
Rev Evil: Off road fuel is a federal thing as well so just because they don't roadblock in FL checking it doesn't mean it's not trouble waiting in the tank if you run it... The signs on the pump, or lack of, mean nothing in the eyes of the law! And Crestview is only about 30 miles south of...
Yup, one of the first things I did when I got the A3 home was take out the rubber mats to clean up the moisture/rust underneath them. That was more of a job than it should be so it lives in a barn now, rain isn't so much of a problem though mud and water tracked in is... When I take the mats out...
No, I beg to disagree. I found the main problem with my MEP-701a (016 in an enclosure) is the confounded 24v battery it requires. They seem to be difficult to find ("A what volt battery?") and impossible to purchase when you do find them, a 'battery store' lists them as available but declined to...
Make a pattern with paper and then cut one out of a rubber bedliner or other sheet rubber type material?? I've seen rubber bedliners cheap as closeouts at auto-parts stores, everyone has gone to rhinoliner, etc. Getting it lay flat going over the trans cover will be the hard part, maybe it could...
I'm talking out my behind here, don't have a PV array and can't afford one so DC generation for the battery bank is only a theoretical problem for me, LOL! Maybe one day...
Isn't that 8.5 gph at the rated output? Those puppies can make some power, it might be actually too much for recharging...
I too enjoy the feeling of motoring in the woods for basically nothing on WMO. Sure there's the aggravation of cleaning it, though I'm working on a centrifuge to ease that pain, but it makes sense in so many ways...
The 50% WMO in the Cummins worked surprisingly well so don't discount them, my...
I saw a great home-built crane not long ago. The mast and boom looked to be salvaged from an industrial engine hoist and there was a Warn winch on it (ATV?) but the base was what impressed me.
The base consisted of a larger truck hub welded to the truck's bed outside face down. The same hub's...
I'v seen the DC gensets sell pretty reasonably on GL, a dedicated DC set would be my choice. And if the right set came up on GL it would be an opportunity to own/operate a gas turbine!
Seems like it would be more effective to run the multi until it croaks and then go with a 5.9 while adjusting your fuel mix by thinning and/or heating your WMO. In warm weather I've run up to 50% clean WMO in a '91 Dodge Cummins!
That's a good idea. Aren't there some fancier GPSs that will measure acceleration, etc? Not sure how that'll translate into HP change though. Higher math may be involved... :-?
I run a booster seat in the A3 for my 6 year old all the time but the belt setup is different and the passenger seat area doesn't move... If you had the stock passenger seat instead of the spring unit I'd just find an A3 passenger seatbelt rig.
