Going to have to pull M1009 trans. Questions

I'm no tranny expert (take that however you want :) ) but it sounds like a vacuum problem NOT a slipping problem. If it was slipping you'd hear the engine rev up almost like you shifted into neutral. How's the fluid color level and smell? Is it full, check on a level surface with engine running...

    M1028 Fuel tank upgrade

It's been a looong time, but IIRC it does fit BUT you will need the burban tank straps and it will hang down lower. I also seem to remember that GM offered the 20 gal and a 30 and a 40? gallon. Not really sure as its been years.

load of a heavy duty relay

A 70 amp relay will handle 70 amps but without knowing what the lights draw your guess is as good as mine!

After 300 mile roadtrip I got back home to slower speeds and a noidy off-idle rattle.

I one time filled up at a small mom n pop type station and ended up with a partial tank of gasoline, truck ran like crap and lost power and IIRC it smoked too. I'd run a tempory fuel line to a clean can of fuel and hope that the engine settles down and runs right. Good Luck!

    remote start system?

That would be a real nice option, I live in Northern NY and don't have any type of block or oil heater and have no trouble starting up at 4AM. Good batteries and glow plugs are a must.

    700R4 Transmission from a V6 Camaro

That by itself would make me walk, add in the fact that it's a lighter duty would make me run.

    High idle solenoid

Well so much for my thought of a frayed throttle cable!:-P Clean it up and readjust it with a straight screwdriver, just be CAREFULL of the fan blades!!!

    700R4 TV cable bracket substitute?

No it's not, but in a pinch I'd make it work! Looks like it would need to be straightened and shortened. Get it close and then use the adjustment on the cable for fine tuning.

    ValuCraft Water pump

I second that! I went that route before and was out there in the cold snow changing that leaking pump 2 more time before I found a GM pump on amazon.

    OLD wreckage pictures from 2004

Did you have any trouble with the insurance company?

    Mild Power Adders

Advance the pump timing, turn the pump up, a 70R4 swap. All have been discussed here many times Gearing has a direct effect on 'felt horsepower'

Re-wiring the whole truck: enough is enough

Yup and now that your batteries are partially discharged and you put another stock relay in there in to will stick and weld the points together. Atleast that's what happened to me, make sure your batteries are charged!

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Under the manifold, sheesh! I would've been layin underneath looking and thinking WTH? Following this build with interest. It was hard to see how bad that frame is from the pic's but I would've put it on the machine and pulled it. But then again I don't have a spare frame!:D Too bad about that...

    Nomenclature help inner fender

I've been around these trucks since they were new and never seen any access panel. I think what your looking at is a reinforcement to stiffen the inner fender.

    86 M1009 water fording ideas

I had a regulator that went down to 1 psi, it had some dental manufacturing company's name on it. Sorry it's long gone but it might be a lead.

    Air Duct for Air Cleaner

Civvie trucks and Blazers did come with the duct work and a air "silencer" that was supposed to quit the engine. Don't really know if it helped that much with noise but it does bring cool fresh air to the engine.

    Low oil pressure causes

My money's on the cam bearings, but it could also be main/rod bearing. Just because it's "in spec" it could still be at the far end of the "spec" as the bearing could be too. Add the two together and you get way out of spec. Always use plastigage! Some of the dipsticks behind the counter might...

    crank no start

I'm leaning towards the lift pump, as they get old the diaphragm cracks and allows fuel to leak back to the tank/crankcase creating an out of fuel effect. One way to tell is to start the cold engine then shut it down immediately wait for an hour or so and restart. If the engine fires right up...

CUCV Snow Plow Trucks and Spreaders

I brought my plow home from where I store it back in November, since then I put it on once or twice. Considering that we normally get about 112" a year I'm happy!

    M1009 blowby

Sure sign of a clogged CDR valve.
