    Well now I own a 2nd CUCV

Yeah, I started out years ago with just one that was little more than a parts truck, then a second one came along and then they had a 1009! Geez these thing are like rabbits!

What is the Most Durable Paint?

Any good automotive paint supplier that wants to sell paint can mix your color in a two part urethane that will be tough and fade resistant and they can add flatner to the mix so it's semi gloss or totally flat. I mixed mine as a semi gloss desert tan and what a difference in inside temperature...

New member, New truck, lots to learn (4x4 and plow Q's)

I've got an old Western on my truck, it started out as a 7.5' but had 6" added to each end and I love it. It's a PIA to mount up until ya get the hang of it. The cables can be and usually are a pain to deal with but once adjusted I lock em down tight and forget em. Don't even try mounting the...

What is going on with this Flexplate? Out of round and bent? Yikes...

That's a new one for me! I hope he didn't sell you a new high rise muffler bearing too. Sounds like he didn't want to admit something.

Inner fenders for my 1986 CUCV Blazer

Make sure you get all new hardware, meaning the 5/16 bolts and the u-nuts that mount in the fender itself! If the inner fenders rusty then the u nuts will be too, some will break and spin be prepared to cut the bolt when that happens. Like cucvus said leave the axle hang and just lift the new...

Is $7000-$8000 too high for super clean M1009?

I had a 6.2 in a two wheel drive half ton civvie truck that had a tad over 400,000 miles on it. the truck itself gave up before the engine did, still have the engine some day I'll rip it down and see what it looks like inside.

[video] Is this amount of smoke normal?

That plus the fact that you got on it and blew out soot that's been collecting in the muffler since the last time you stepped on it. I wouldn't worry about that at all, I've got one that when I step on it (load or not) whoevers behind me disappears!

    Tailgate Blues

Will the window go down if you 'help' it by pushing down on it? Is it straight and level or is onside stuck and one side moving? If you get inside and remove the inner panel there is two rods that go out to the latches (one each side) if you reach in and pull on the you will release the gat BUT...

    Gen light issue

Sounds to me like a voltage regulator problem but it is odd that BOTH alt. do it. Driving 55 or any speed should not have an effect on charging voltage.

Windshield wiper parking problem?? More unusual that your average case!

When pulling the wiper linkage out there's no need to remove the hood! Just remove the two hinge bolts on each side while a helper holds the front of the hood up, once bolts are out just let the hood pivot on the springs and lower the front. The rear of the hood will be up in the air and easy to...

    CUCV Long Term storage container

I had a mouse get into my 'can' once, I think it rode in on the Kubota. I found it laying on the floor all dried up and mummified. Mine sits in part shade part sun and gets HOT! I painted the roof with silver mobile home roof coating and that seemed to help a lot. When I got the can I did back...

    Water Pump Plate

You should be able to break that silicon seal, if you can't pop it loose with a screwdriver (without bending it) try heating it up.

    Quotes with M1009 resellers

Straightening frames is why body shops have frame machines. Most shops nowadays are equipped for unibody and don't have the clamps or the equipment for a full frame vehicle. Or the trained personnel. They are out there and your truck may be fixable (can't tell from just pics) the insurance...

    I'm going CRAZY

When it dies is it just instantly shutting off like the key was switched off or does it surge and then die? It's not really clear from the OP. When it dies have you checked for fuel BEFORE cranking it over? Or after? It may be a fuel problem but dying at the same turn seems a little odd, like...

    Longer speedometer cable

That's why I have one, might even have a spare somewhere out in the garage NO it's not for sale.

    Longer speedometer cable

I don't remember what years but some suburbans came with a short "auxiliary" cable that was about 18" long and just screwed onto the OEM cable under the truck. I used one to extend the cable on one of my trucks.

Keep Military OEM or change scheme looking for advice.

Do what you want, just don't paint it flat black! You'll end up cooking yourself. I served and one of my trucks is yellow and white with flames and lots of chrome and the other is a semi gloss tan. Flat paint and semi gloss hides LOTS of imperfections.

CUCV head gasket / head/ or change engine survey

I just read this whole thread, for me that's really something cause I usually just browse! It's amazing how a simple little project can get big real quick. Been there and still doing it.(shaking my head) I never realized you had put that much time and effort into the mule, one thing you didn't...

CUCV Aluminum Radiator Problems, is it just me?

You use the word "pop" and "over pressure", does the heater core actually pop open as in blow up? I wonder if you have some kind've blockage in the cooling system, the first thing that comes to mind is the lower radiator hose may be collapsing while driving. The lower hose has suction especially...
