    Dome light

I found a red/white LED light from a cop car, works great and is almost to bright.

    6.2 Broken Crankshaft Revisited.

I have two 6.2's sitting in my driveway right now, one is bone stock the other I rebuilt(stock) with the exception of balancing the rods and pistons (rings on) I also 'ported and polished 'heads and manifolds. It is the smoothest and quietest 6.2 I've ever seen. I do have to admit tho I never...

    Brake locking

A leaking axle seal will do the same thing, lot of people think oil on brake shoe will make em slip, WRONG! They'll lock up at the lightest touch of the pedal and then as the oil is burned off work normally (unless there really soaked)

My new (old) M1009 needs a new roof

Shipping such a large item will be expensive, look around your local salvage yards I bet they have a dozen or more to choose from.

M1008 multiple spare tire mount ideas needed

Yeah! just make sure you replace the glue every year or so, it dries up at the most inopportune times!

    Winch

That looks GREAT! I was wondering if there's room for a ammo can on the left side? That would be a great place to keep a snatch block, tree strap and gloves.

    M1009 Windshield frame rust repair/replace

CUCVUS, I gotta come down and see you 'collection' some day, I've got a lot of parts but you sure have me beat!

    M1009 Windshield frame rust repair/replace

Using a cut out panel would be the hot ticket! To bad you can't out it all in one piece! have an overlapping seam just shy of the rear edge of the door post and then wherever you want on the roof itself, I'd even drill out the spot welds on the "donor" part and grind the welds out on the old...

4 wheel drive low going forward or reverse which is better for pulling ?

I agree about pulling from the rear and going forward, but I've noticed that it seems my truck(s) have better traction in reverse. With that being said I've done both in HI and LO.

Bane of my existence... CUCV simply doesn't want to be cooperative.

While replacing those vacuum lines make sure you pull the tranny dipstick and look at and smell the ATF. Is it at the full mark? Is pink in color or dirty brown? Does it smell burned? If it's brown and or burned smelling then do a tranny service, it's easy and yea you can do it yourself/ TH400...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

New tires mounted and installed a couple days ago, Bought a cheap set off of evilbay and thought for sure they'd be more square then round. Boy was I surprised! Brand name is WEST LAKE 265/85-16 less than $500 delivered to my door, mounted up and balanced with very little weight and handles...

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

For once I disagree with cucvus! I say yes, I did mine starting with a spray on bed liner, followed that with carpet and a rubber mat. That made a BIG difference, I also installed a OEM hood blanket. You wouldn't believe how much just the blanket helped. I've yet to install anything in the...

Is a Deuce "Whistler" Turbo on 6.2 worth considering?

It does sound cool but putting a larger turd blower on will take longer to spool up than a smaller unit on the same engine. I think I said that correctly.

    riggermedic's M1009

Nice looking truck. In the 1st post with all the pics it looks like the electric fuel pump is mounted before the inline filter, the filter (or a filter) should be UPSTREAM of the pump. You could just add another in their or just move the one you have, wouldn't hurt to tie it down either. Other...

    Oil Pressure Gauge

No, but if you have air in the line that would cause an incorrect reading. Air is compressible, oil is not.

    CUCV Auto vs Manual Trans

I've been lucky enough to acquire a "few" spare parts over the years and I cut the hump out of a rot box and used it as a replacement. I Figured that way if I ever have to work on it Hopefully I can do it from the top. I wish I had bucket seats in it, the shifter pushes against the seat pretty...

    CUCV Auto vs Manual Trans

I just went and checked out the Ranger site and WOW I knew I got a deal but WHAT A DEAL! I also noticed that they are now made of cast aluminum and weigh about 80lbs, the one I have is cast iron and much heavier. Also noticed the new ones are 7.5 or 7.75" not 8. Just wanted to throw that out there!

Hummer rims & tires on my Cucv ????

Looking good Sharecropper, how much lift did you put in there?

    CUCV Auto vs Manual Trans

I have two CUCV's one has a 700R4 and is my daily driver, the other is almost exactly as you described right down the the Ranger TS. I picked it up at a trans. shop in Buffalo NY years ago with no real project in mind for only $100! The shop owner had retired and was selling unclaimed stuff...

M1009 flexplate. and suggestions before I pull it (VIDEO)

When you remove the cover drop the starter and check to see if the drive gear will move freely in and out. If oil gets on it from a leak it can collect dust and dirt and then 'stick' that might cause the gear to only partially engage and 'slip'? Do you hear a grinding when the engine stops...
