Can BO Light Swith be used on other lights?

To put it simply, when the BO lights are active ALL the other lights are locked out. That means no head lights, tail, brake, turn, back up,and I believe dash lights.

    NP208 emergency rear cover?

The plug mentioned in post #8 is a great idea as are some of the others but will they stay in place driving back home? I can tell you one thing that will, my son does a lot of demolition derbies and ran a Chevy Blazer one year. Only two wheel drive trucks were allowed so that meant a drive shaft...

How much weight has your cucv hauled?

I pulled a tractor trailer a few feet and I pulled my tractor about a 100 feet in the snow. I've carried enough that it sagged in the back and I broke one spring clamp but never broke anything else on this one nor gotten it stuck...yet.

    M1008 front axle question

Take along a couple of 2"x8" as long as the trailer, that would 'lift' the truck 1.5" if you need the extra height. Good luck and chain it down well!

    6.2 diesel power

You either love a 6.2 or hate it. If you want tire spinning, head snapping power then your looking in the wrong place. If ya want a great truck for off road hauling, dragging, camping at a modest price then get a 6.2 and leave it alone! I saw a set of headers for a 6.2 once, at $400 (used) I just...

    My 1028A1 project almost done.

Wanna bet who gets a better price? I worked at Keystone after 20 yrs doing body work. I still get an amazing discount! Also as these trucks get older the parts on the shelf move slower, so they (Keystone and others) may be willing to offer discounts to move them. Don't be shy, ask. If your...

    M1009 Runs Cold

Are you sure it has a thermostat in place? If it's missing that will keep it from warming up, it could be stuck open too.

Running with no intake, white smoke troubleshooting

To me it sounds like a fuel/timing problem, you seem to be on the right track. One thing that I've noticed is that you can still quite a bit of smoke after a timing/fuel change but in reality it takes a little time to blow the soot out of the pipes. So in a nut shell go out and get on it a few...

Helluva banging noise and won't turn over

My thoughts also! I"d spend a few minutes crawling around and check the starter bolts, fan mounting and belt tension. I'd also give the damper a good looking over.

    1984 CUCV transmission.

The first place to start is with the dipstick not the vacum lines. Is the fluid at the correct level , is it pink or dark? Does the fluid smell burned? Is the dipstick even there and appear to be the correct one? (don't laugh it happens) If all appears to be good and after buying it run threw...

    1985 6.2 in a M1010 head question and story ..

I remember those, it looked like one of those claw/cable type pick up tools except the claws turned out ward to grab inside the lifter. If the lifter popped out of the lifter gallery with the head on the I would say it can go back in the same way. work smarter not harder!

    tire vendor question

I had a set like that years ago and they lasted almost forever! I gotta admit they did take a little more weight to balance them and they had a very stiff side wall so if I ran over a dime I could tell if it was heads or tails. The ones I had were well worth the money and there not made like the...

    Temperature question

It seems to me that your looking for a problem that's just not there! Both the old temp and the new are just fine, the difference may just be because of the water flow or some other reason after all you also changed the thermostat and cap. The whole reason radiator caps have a #presure to them...

    Hard starting/white smoke

Still could be a bad GP or just a bad connection, this time of year I'm thinking it's more than just one GP, possibly a wiring issue?

    i was wondering/needing advice on....

Years ago I put air shocks on the front of one of my trucks to help with the weight of a snowplow. No one listed them for the front so I took a rear set and IIRC had to cut about an 1/8 off where the lower mounting bolt goes thru. It worked fine with the plow but it did stiffen up the front...

    Advantage of electric engine fan

Now that you brought it up, My Freightliner has a DD15 in it and the fan really drags it down. When the fan kicks on at an idle the whole cab kinda lurches a little from the torque. Some trucks use the fan to assist in engine braking (think Jake brake)

    Advantage of electric engine fan

Back in my old hot rod days I remember reading about after market flex fans and how much horsepower you could 'recover' by replacing the old solid fan and even the newer (at that time) clutch fans. Seemed that it said as much 25HP! Of course that was on a 383CI gasser. If I pulled a camper with...

    Lunging

After checking all the mounts (mentioned above) I'd check the IP timing, You mentioned smoke and rough idle and the lunging, your timing may be to far advanced.

Good Friday M1009 Easter weekend recovery and rebuild project.

Changing bodies/frames isn't bad, I've done it lots of times years ago. (key words YEARS AGO!) I'd do it now for the right rust free truck, but I'm sure it'd take me quite a while. I've noticed that I work smarter now but parts seem to be heavier.

    -10to -15 degree start up with 1009

Some folks on here just don't seem to understand the 'no money' concept! If you have to use starting fluid then use it, just make sure the GLOW PLUGS ARE DISCONNECTED AND ARE COOL!!!! Starting fluid isn't good for the engine but the REAL damage comes from it igniting on contact with a hot glow...
