I swapped out the front springs and surprise! I didn't have any real problems! The only small problem was I used a heavy duty set with an extra leaf because of the snow plow and the two bolts on the passenger side that screw into the D.60 housing were to short. It only took a few minutes of...
I sometimes take and spray some silicon on the end felts,( DON'T DO THIS IF YOUR PLANNING ON PAINTING ANYTHING FOR AWHILE)! If everything is clean and lubed properly and adjusted you don't need the silicon but hey we're talking real life here.
The same switch will always last longer when used to break the ground rather than the line (power) because there's less arcing and contact metal transfer. With that in mind a switch breaking the ground will NOT protect against accidental shorts to ground. Personally I think killing the power to...
The first thing I did was install a under hood blanket/insulator, that made a big difference. I also sprayed bedliner material on the floor (inside)of my truck, I went as high up as I could without totally removing everything like the heater box. That made a difference then I used a few rubber...
I've got an 8.5' Western on mine, at one time in it's life it was 7.5' but when you have a complete metal fab shop and a "helper" that really knows what he's doing things come out good!
I've had that old plow on civvie Blazers and trucks and now on a 1028 and rarely spin and have never gotten...
Sure you can, there out there you just need to look for them and have the money to pay for it.
I have a new in the box GM door and a like new Blazer power tailgate in my garage, if I have them others do too. Sorry the're not for sale at this time!
After 20 years doing auto body work I got a job selling aftermarket parts and body shop supplies. There were parts that I and a few others just would not sell such as fiberglass Mustang hoods and truck TAILGATES! I remember one that I had put on a Dodge truck, after fitting and painting it, the...
I was thinking OEM, for no other reason than the spot welds look a little to perfect for AM. Kinda hard to tell tho.
With another look the indentation lines are pretty darn smooth too, not that it really matters much use what you got.
I've found that the most troublesome area is where the window...
If your hearing a clicking or as you TAK noise that leads me to believe that a relay/solenoid is making intermittent contact when you hit a bump. I'd be looking at the starter relay under the dash and follow that up with the glow pug relay. The starter relay points inside could be bouncing and...
In the OP's pic's it looks like the tach has it's own plug. I'd check that out, it may be as easy as plugging in the stock harness and making a small harness for just the tach.
I agree with Paul, I did body work for years and to tell you the truth If you came to my shop with that I'd hit you with such a high price you'd run away screaming ! Thats a lot of work and there's no way a reputable shop wants that kind've work, it's a loser all the way around for everyone. No...
Any drive shaft shop could cut that yoke off and replace it with a new one. If you go with a junk yard shaft check it carefully for dents and bends! That happens when they pick them up with a fork lift.
I painted mine a gloss tan for two reasons, that flat paint made it so hot I couldn't stand it day in day out and the snow grease dirt and bird crap stuck to it looked like crap. Now it just looks like desert tan until I wash it , then it shines!
I figure if you don't like it then don't look at it!
That's why old time body men had shrinking hammers and shrinking dollies, and of course a torch. Now most guys under 40 or so have no idea how to shrink stretched metal and with labor rates it might not be worthwhile. should be lots of used doors kicking around down there.
