Well I didn't want the chain to fall off the tow hooks, therefore the tightness.. Uhh yeah stuck on scoops, I had originally bought for my Chevy 1500 just found them and they happened to be in flat black already, thought it would look cool..
So I thought I would post some pics of my Deuce since it has gone through so many changes along the way. Originally it was a fire truck, the pic is not the actual vehicle but what it used to look like. It was bobbed and painted army green. Then I got it and painted it flat black and upgraded...
Doghead, thanks!! I found them and am currently doing the quote. This will save me a bundle!! Can't wait to trade in my plates for the cheaper Historical ones. I owe you one!
I just got 395's on my stock rims, they used 11x20 tubes for them and it worked.. Your tires have a larger diameter 49.5" vs. my 46.8" so to be safe I would use the 14's..
They will give you commercial plates if you don't have classic car insurance. I registered mine not too long ago. They gave me commercial and I wanted Historical. Since I don't have a garage I couldn't get the classic car insurance, hence no Historical plates. They will give you the...
T-Wrecks, I just did the same thing, I had an old 1990 Chevy 1500 that was rusting to pieces. I found a great bobbed Deuce and got some larger 395 tires on it now. Given your location, you may want to check out Kublos, he's near Binghampton on the PA side.. He's a great resource for Trucks and...
Even if I didn't have the sheet metal, I think I would have spent the $.99 on some posterboard and used that instead.. just seems quicker and no waiting to dry and hose off.. Either way it seems there are multiple ways to do it..:deadhorse:
Welcome!! I am a newbie too and just have my deuce for a few weeks now but already have done a ton of stuff to it. This site is a wealth of info.. Check out the Tech Manuals, some good reading before you buy. Get's you familiar with the truck ahead of tim
True, I could have done that, but I want to shine up the tires a little and didn't want any issues after the fact. Doing it this way was no time at all, hold up the metal, spray..move..repeat.. I did need to use a wire wheel to take the beige pain off that someone else used on those tires.. I...
How are you guys getting around the clearance issues with the Trailer bed and the Taller and Wider tires? I just put some 395's on my truck and noticed that the Trailer Bed frame's square supports are really close to the back tires. I cut two of them at a 45 degree angle so they are OK but I...
Just wanted to share my new trick for painting rims.. I had in the past used masking tape or drop cloths tucked between the tire and rim and then it hit me yesterday.. Just use a piece of thin aluminum or flashing and curve it to the shape of the rim and put in-between the rim and the tire...
So I picked up my 395's this weekend.. Painted the rims and on they went.. The rears are very close to the rails underneath the bed though so I cut the two that were closest to the tires at a 45 degree angle so I have a little more room now.. Not sure if I flip the hubs the other way and mount...
There was an episode on Extreme 4x4 which they bobbed a deuce and used an air suspension in the back which they controlled to raise and lower the bed. Not sure if that helps you but here is the link for the first half of the episode...
I think stupid people just don't see red.. I was cut off in my Red Silverado a bunch of times.. It's lifted a little with some bigger tires on it.. not sure how they "Don't see you" !?! Perhaps I'll do better with my new deuce in flat black..
Is there an aftermarket Brake Shoe for a Deuce that I can pickup at a NAPA or other auto part store? I burnt them up a bit on the ride home as they were sticking on the highway, since all 4 wheels were smoking I am guessing I will have to replace the shoes.. I was hoping to find something...
It's a bargin no matter how I figure it.. OK I got my bobbed deuce last week for $5500, put on a new paint job for $20, Soon to purchase some used 395 tires on rims for $1000. So I am at $6520 and could easily get that back if I would want to sell her tomorrow.
So now the comparison to a...
SMOKEWAGGON66, truck looks great too.. You don't have any hight clearance issues with yours! I'm picking up my 395's this weekend! Can't wait to get them on!
Hey hilber, I am looking into the turbos, not sure which one is better, I see you have the turbo C, I believe there is also the D model? Not sure what the difference is but I think I read on one post that one is louder than the other. Love that whistle sound but I do live in a cul de sac so I...
