Air leaking into air intake stack (parking brake NOT applied)

The only thing I can suggest is to let the air pressure build completely, then then shut the truck down, then use a piece of long flexible air hose( I use 1/4") stick one end in your ear and use the other end to search for the leak. When you come across the leak you will definitely hear it.I...

    Battery box insulation?

By insulating the box, or getting the batteries off a material that holds heat or cold(in this instance ) well, it would keep the batteries a bit warmer . Like I said at 32 the truck started, at 22 it did not. my train of thinking was if I was able to get those batteries off that cold steel and...

    Battery box insulation?

I started my truck Wednesday at 32 degrees. Started fine a bit slow but still cranked and fired up. I went out today (22 degrees)to bring her home and the batteries don't have enough to get a good crank. So I'm going out again to charge the batteries . So I got to wondering if there is some way...

air brakes release with engine not running

I know the main question was in regards to a truck that won't start, but if you do get it started and the brakes are still locked. In my experience with frozen brakes due to the cold, rocking it will usually unlock the brakes.Forward reverse. If not, pump the brakes a few times, sometimes ice in...

I admit defeat!!! rad hose size.

I've looked through all the TM's the best that I can and haven't found anything on the size of the upper radiator hose elbow #8 on page 3-155 of the Technical Manual. I would copy and paste the page but haven't figured that out either. So does anybody have a replacement number, or actually what...

    M923A2 Fuel Filter Change Nightmare

My truck is a M923 84' it doesn't have what is in your picture. Another question If I may, What kind of seals are in the older style hand primer pump? rubber, cork, round flat? My truck is a few miles away so I want to have a good assortment of the correct style seals when I head out there...

    M923A2 Fuel Filter Change Nightmare

2 ?'s If your pressurizing the tank is it a good Idea to have the bleeder valve open and have someone close it once the air gets out? Would a spritz of oil on the primer pump lubricate it enough to work? I have drained my filter and pumped that primer for 5 minutes straight with the petcock open...

    M931A2. Fuel prime

I kind'of have the same problem, I drained the water separator ( about 1-2 quarts) and then tried to bleed the air out of the system with the primer pump as in the TM's and nothing happened. I pumped that thing for about 2 full minutes and no fuel or air. I think there might be a seal in there...

    Ether Valve-solenoid replacement?

I took my ether assist start valve and solenoid apart yesterday in attempt to fix it. Well the valve is in perfect working order, but can't say the same for the solenoid. The solenoid is toast, dead, seen better days, pushing up daisies. IS it possible to buy just the solenoid part? I also seen...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I did have the mechanics 3/4 impact ( professional kind) and it didn't do anything even at 130 psi, So then I as you did soaked the lug/nuts with WD 40 and let them sit for a couple of beers and that still didn't have any effect. The only thing that saved my tail was that 3/4 breaker bar. Yes I...

Finally installed the new wheels on the bigboy yesterday.I was going to upload yesterday, but after working 8.5 hrs then installing these I was one tired SOB.
