RE: Re: RE: M125 Wrecker has a new home!!!
Lee:
Thanks for sending me the link to this thread I find it hard to believe I missed it. I can remember the big trucks still on active duty at Fort Devens when I was a lieutenant. I was always impressed with them and the 8 inch self propelled...
Wow very nice:
Did you sandblast everything? It certainly rivals a complete depot rebuild. You would be surprized what some old trucks got to do because they were property of a National Guard unit. Dueces were everywhere I went in Iraq and even some in Afghanistan. I know M818's made it to...
QDR could be for something as minor as the wrong configuration of a brand new motor so you could be in for a great deal of course it could also be a serious issue that would mean a costly repair. At any point if you get it at a reasonable price you have a tested and true motor to start with and...
Mark:
I will certainly be attending the Pines runs when I am back home for good. I am accually coming home during this time frame this year but it is for a wedding that day and the next morning at 0500 Christian and I fly out to pick up our M818 from Tim down in Lousianna and then have a 1,200...
Joe:
I will not be there but will be in spirit I want to make these when I get home for good. It was fun meeting at the restaurant, convoying to the woods and a blast in the pines. Take your camera it is really beautiful there.
M35TOm is that .69 in now? I know you posted this in a link but I am curious about the .69 performance and am considering that mod myself when I retire so if the gears are available where do you get them? I have a mill but I am not set up to do helical gears with it.
I love the NTC 400! Having spent 42 months in a medium truck company as lieutenant and 38 months commanding one the engine has given my 64C and 88M drivers millions of miles hauling DOD freight all over the world. The suitcase waterpump was one of the most common items that needed to be fixed...
RE: Re: RE: Looking for battery switch for 816
I am quite sure the ones I have only have three terminal studs on the back. Would one of those work for you?
Lee:
Can we see some pictures of the beast? If it is in another thread pardon my ignorance. As far as tires are concerned I think I have seen these in GL lots at RRAD.
I agree that tactical trucks can not hold a candle to the commercial cousins that work in industry. Take a look at the dump the engineers used for years it was a commercial International because it had to operate continually hauling rock and hot top supporting construction. The five ton dumps...
Awesome Guys I know the Soldiers really appreciate your support. Those are great looking trucks and I am sure that they liked to get a look and feel of what help previous generations of Soldiers make the Country a free one.
I would like to see them go back to the old system of getting it when you picked up your vehicle with no additional charge. I still have the original one from my M105 that I bought way back in 1991 after it came back from Desert Storm and the unit forgot about picking it up along with about 40...
The HMMWV is where most of the problems occured due to the fiberglass and lack of a ground that would last through all the demands placed on the vehicle. If the units are properly grounded they should not suffer from normal use and TACOM would not have sourced these and approved them without a...
Welcome to the Steel Soldiers. I would look at an M1009 since they are geared higher and get better milage. You can take the fiberglass top off and have plenty of redneck AC. If you need to haul sometimes find an M101 trailer for it and only get lower milage when you need to. Just my 2...
Looking good, have you considered a winch and grill guard for it?
I travelled through Wausau way back in 1968 and was surprized how such a big city.. I was from the country... closed up exactly at 5 PM.
Any shots of it in action?
That is pretty interesting I wonder how many Soldiers sat on that and never knew it was there. Is your truck that old? I know the packing list has not looked that way since I have been in. Also hope I get to meet you on our trip down this month.
I have to say that most of these problems were with the first version of the switch. I have had one on my duece for over three years and it works great. I just like the lit up segments. I do not know if they changed the NSN on these but I am pretty sure I have the newer version. In my time I...
Are you putting the lollipop lights back on? Those were standards for operating in NATO as I recall. It looks really good and if your buddy is not a Steel Soldier as him to visit the sight.
