Have you cleaned the air cleaner lately? A clogged/dirty air cleaner will cause the truck to smoke, as it is not getting enough air to burn the fuel, sending unburnt fuel up the stack! (Like when a diesel lags, it smokes more!)

Either way, that is a huge tank! Mine is just 80 gal. but runs 200 PSI at 10 CFM. I would like to have a tank that size, but it would have to be 1/2" grade 60 steel to hold those pressures. (I am guessing on the numbers, but it would be heavy!)

Not to sure how well a grease zerk will do on the pivot point, to work properly it would need spiral vains cut in to the zerk channel. If you try it, please let us know how it works!
