Gimp,
sorry to ask, but i'm still trying to find out if the clutch alignment tool from a Chevrolet C40-C70 truck, will work on the LDT 465....
I found that in a search but could never confirm, I thought maybe you've heard this before.
Digging deep again... 3rd time through my search and time to just ask the brain pool...
can anyone confirm this:
10-spline 1 1/2" OD shaft clutch alignment tool for a Chevrolet C40-C70 truck
will work for the M35?
thank you for your time.
will look for bolts or rivets tomorrow...
if rivited, then it would have to be seperated in frame..
if bolted, could be removed as one unit...? ( cant open TMs at work... )
would you still recommend pulling the engine and transmission at the same time? (LDT motor)
I am about to do this "on my own" with no soldier B, no skid steer, renting a skytrak (telehandler 5.5k),.
should I plan on a one day or week long rental....
Searching got me here (at 3am) so i'm doing...
I've been searching....
but I have a question on NOS engines, "preserved" or canned engines...
HOW are these engines preserved? Are they filled with anything like cosmoline or something similar?
Are there procedures in the TMs for draining or other services that must be performed before...
well.... as I expected.... #6 was full of coolant, gasket didn't really look bad, some of the red sealant was missing...
but one of the head studs on #4 looked like it was trying to pull out of the block....(?)
anyway, I cleaned out the cylinders, put some ATF in them, and letting it sit for a...
correction
I'll take a valve cover bolt down to the hardware store to see if I can find a couple of loop heads.
and maybe a small length of chain.
Hopefully the penetrating oil has gotten in there... and I may still have to make my special tool.
So far, I have been able to make small progress...
well, i'm down to the bare heads, just need to get back in the TM and see where they suggest for "lift points" to raise the heads off the block. I'm not going to just muscle them off (bad back).... so i'll make a little overhead boom to lift from, (double 2x6 header style).
should be fun...
I was able to spend some quality time on the deuce yesterday...
got it stripped down to bare heads, working on the "hard to reach 6".
I found the 6 gallons off coolant I was missing.... in the oil pan (2 and a quarter 5gal buckets).
... but the coolant was clean... (what was left)
about half of...
I would like to learn more about this, I have been reading for months to keep from sounding uneducated on the deuce.
Under max load configuration, I could see the possibility of it being more of a problem.
But for running unloaded 90% of the time....
Some make it sound like its the equivalent...
its been sitting about 9 days.....
after running around the neighborhood, it got hot 210* belching white crap out the slobber tube, so I took it back to the house, the top of the radiator was hot but the bottom was cold, so I tapped on the thermostat housing lightly with a hammer to see if it...
well, its not spraying water out from the cap, but it still going SOMEWHERE... and I have foamy crap from the slobber tube, and the oil is turning green and HIGH up on the stick... (I've put about 6 gallons of coolant, mostly just water, through it), so I wont run it like that, its parked until...
