G, On that first pic, is that some sort of tach drive on the PTO to measure PTO speed? I've never seen that before.
I didn't have the rod that goes from the lever to the PTO shifter on mine. I found out with a little modification a deuce clutch rod that I had lying around works fine.
The belt squeal doesn't sound right. Did you check the belts? Are you sure you didn't trow a belt and it damaged some wires?
The clicking you hear is more than likely the circuit breaker inside the light switch. Sounds like you have a wire to ground somewhere.
I've had a M936 and I also have a 14ton RT crane. The crane is much more useful and and didn't cost much more.
For the military wrecker to lift 20K you have to have the boom jacks installed. That means you can only lift straight up and down (no swinging).
You've also got to figure that when...
That makes sense because without the hoses hooked up there is nowhere for the fluid to go except through the pressure relief valve. Bypassing oil through the relief valve makes it very hot if done for very long.
Sounds like you're already set up for a wet line. You may still have to add a valve...
Just so you know, it's almost impossible the set up the PTO as described in the TM with the trans in the truck (not much room between the access hole and the truck frame). I always just do it by feel but most of that comes from installing many PTOs on various vehicles over the years and know...
Well if you already have two auxiliary ports, it sounds like you're already set up. I know the military does use trailers that require hyd, I would assume that's what the ports are for. I suggest you read up on the TM and see what it says.
Tom, you may be right but I'd sure like to see a pic of one. I've seen plenty of trucks with Spicer trans but none that took the same PTO as a deuce.
I do know Chelsea did make a PTO that would fit the deuce but according to more than one Chelsea dealer, the gear has been obsolete for years...
There are t-case PTOs that come up for sale in the classifieds from time to time. They aren't all that hard to find. The last two I had sold for $500 each.
I've had 3 of them and they all came off tanker parts trucks. If you do find one make for sure it comes with the piece that goes on the...
The brake pedal should be stiffer with no air pressure. If the pedal is soft you have issues on the hyd side. Could just need a bleeding from sitting or you could have a leak somewhere.
If you don't have the little air switch and light under the gauge panel, you have a sprag t-case (automatic).
The fording switch is another switch and unless your truck has a fording kit installed, you don't have that switch.
Yes and no. You can reverse the output but the gear arrangement after you're finished will only give you a single speed in one direction. You can also take some parts from a 5-ton PTO and make it rear output and still keep all your gears. After you've done all that you will find that the output...
You are going to need some different valving. I'm not familiar with how the M916 is set up but I assume the winch is now controlled with a single spool valve. You are more than likely going to have to swap that out with a 2 spool valve. Then you can run a "wet line" from the second spool to your...
:ditto:
I agree with Porky. Do not try and towbar a deuce with a 1-ton truck. Never tow a truck that they towed vehicle is bigger than the towing vehicle.
Now a 1-ton truck can haul a deuce safely on a trailer with good brakes.
GL isn't a used car lot, they are a surplus dealer. They claim a lot of stuff on their website but if you read the terms and conditions you agree to when you bid, they don't guarantee the accuracy of anything printed on their site.
The site people can't be expected to do much of a personal...
I think I've got a tube of Permatex brand at the moment but any brand name RTV sealant should work fine.
Sure you could if you can find a oil seal that would fit in place of the inner seal. I'm not sure how much better it would be though, oil seals leak also from time to time. I guess the...
Depends on how much it is leaking and where. If you've just got a little antifreeze or oil leaking down the outside of the block, it should be ok to run. Be careful starting it though, if there is coolant on top of a piston and you try to start the engine things can go bad fast.
