I start in first high when empty or lightly loaded. When loaded heavy I start out in low first, run through all the gears in low, and then split shift fourth and fifth.
I just did a seal on a deuce today and it had a rubber wedge piece in the slot instead of cork. It came this way from the government and is the first time I've seen rubber instead of cork. It looked like it would seal better than cork but I left it out and went to my tried and true method with RTV.
Like Clinto, I use RTV and never had a problem.
Seeing as how the truck has been just sitting and not driven with oil in the hubs, you may get by with just pulling the axle and replacing the outer seal. You may want to pull at least one hub though to make sure the oil hasn't washed the grease...
My t-case shift lever on one of my trucks has a fair amount of slop to it and it will contact my trans shifter from time to time. I just live with it but it could stand to be tightened up. I think you'd be better served putting a bushing on the shaft to take up slack than you would trying to...
Every head I've installed in the last few years I've used the copper coat spray. Most gasket manufacturers tell you to install the gasket dry but while I can't say without a doubt that it helps, I can say that none of the gaskets I've used it on leak. I also use it on exhaust manifolds.
I tend...

You can either buy the paint in spray cans or by the gallon. I just got done using spray cans to 3-color camo a cj5. It turned out great but if I were painting something as big as a deuce I'd use a spray gun on at least the base color.
Adjusting S cam brakes is much easier than wedge brakes and it's just a much simpler setup. I often wonder why the military went with wedge brakes. Only thing I can think of is ground clearance but they could have also mounted the S cam chambers on top of the axle.
What are the advantages of...
Rivercreek, The pump will work fine at high RPM. I do my lime spreading in second low at 2100 RPM. With the auto trans I try and run the truck at 2100 so the GPM will be pretty constant. That may be too slow for your on-road spreading but if you've got it in too high of gear it will downshift...

I've got a 2,500sq ft house. Now I can't turn everything on it the house running the 003 but who would want to. I can run everything that's needed at one time but I have gas hot water, heat, and dryer. Even if I were all electric I think I'd still be fine because you could manage them...
You ran a home run for each outlet? He's right, it's awfully expensive as high as copper is and it makes for a lot more connections in the panel.
With that said, I'm guilty myself of making more circuits than needed. I do it mainly so I can isolate different parts of the house easier.
There is also a guy named Alvin Hoselton in Tullahoma.931-461-8355
I've bought some deuce stuff from him in the past but I don't know about cucv stuff.
That cover is nothing like my vinyl cover. Mine doesn't have the straps on the inside or the nylon straps on the outside front. I don't know what brand mine is, it's the one that came on the truck from uncle sam but it's definitely different than the one you have.
You have the cover tied down...
I've got three triwalls full of Hyster parts if you need anything. Mostly mast parts ( rollers, cylinder packings, and such). I'm not sure they will fit that model but we can try and match something up if needed. I may also have some manuals for the lift (parts and service).
Maybe I should load up a load and head your way.
A couple of years ago we scrapped 5 1998 running Toyota 5K forklifts for a local factory. I tried to sell them first because the owner was going to let me have anything I could get over scrap price. I tried but nobody wanted them. They would all...
You will bang up the bed floor pretty good, and even the crossmembers, hauling big rock. The wood will help greatly but I'd suggest removing the original floor skin first. If you sandwich the wood between the original floor and the new floor, moisture will get in there and can't get out. The...
5,000lb and under solid tire forklifts go for scrap price around here. I'm talking about forklifts with nothing wrong and ready to go to work. High hrs though.
I had two 10,000 lb Hysters I sold to a guy for scrap price just because I'd rather see somebody get some use out of them rather than...
I've done it before by myself and it isn't easy but doable. If you are parking it in a garage and are going to have to remove it every time you take the truck out, it's going to get old fast.
