Eagle, That's fine if that's what you want to do. I take it you do have at least access to another vehicle and didn't just sit at the house while the deuce was down. You actually help prove what others are saying. If something breaks it can be awhile before you can get it back going (a month in...
Well said.
The OP needs to find somebody local with a deuce and hang out with them for awhile to see what they are getting into. I know people ride around all the time in vehicles without AC but it's a different ballgame when the vehicle also doesn't have any firewall insulation and lots of...
I tend to agree. Those big singles sure look nice but they don't wear as well as the smaller tires, take a pretty penny to replace, don't seem to hold up large loads as well, and rob power from a already underpowered truck. For looks I'd vote for the singles every time but for practical civilian...
I've been bidding on GL for almost as long as they've been in business. This kind of stuff has always went on in some form or another from day one. Damaged vehicles from turn in unit, damage by GL forklift drivers, parts taken by the government and civilians, and down right deceptive pics...
I've seen the radiation detectors go off several times at the local scrap yards. Some of the know sources is water pipe that came from underground and most industrial furnaces will set the detectors off.
I personally saw the detectors go off when another guy hauled in some old water pipe...
Be careful with civilian van trailers also. Most newer civilian van trailers are right at 13' 6" tall when hooked to civilian trucks. Add the tall 5th wheel and super singles and you are quite a bit over height.
I've never had any trouble with my gun pumping it.
What I did was to screw the drain plug out and added a grease fitting. I started pumping the corn head grease in until it came out the fill plug in the top. I don't remember how much it held but the best I remember is was quite a bit.
I guess I should have explained my statement more. I was referring to the clowns out in AZ. Most site people I've dealt with are very helpful and good to work with
Jeff hit the nail on the head. The bottom line is as long as they get their paycheck each week, they just don't care. As long as people keep bidding on their trucks and there is no competition, I don't see them changing anytime soon.
Salted roads and ocean air is the killer of vehicles. As has been said, most MVs while in service don't go out on the roads much during bad weather or much at all for that matter.
I try and shy away form trucks that come from bases near the ocean but can sometimes get fooled the way they move...
You may be right on that but I've got a 1994 Trail King trailer that my Dad bought new in 1994 that doesn't have spring brakes. I've also got a 1982 Trail King trailer that doesn't have spring brakes.
Here's a pic of the '94.
Some older trailers don't have spring brakes and will roll away if the air leaks off. I don't recall the year spring brakes were mandatory but I've got a 1994 Trail King trailer without spring brakes and a 2000 Talbert with spring brakes.
If you want the trailer brakes to lock and stay locked...
I've always thought house paint wouldn't hold up well but there are a bunch of people around here that swear by it. Maybe I'm wrong.
Enamel like Rapco can take a long, long time to completely cure, depending on weather conditions.
I was reading the latest issue of Military Vehicles and there...
The way I understand it, all diesel is ultra low sulfur nowadays. All the red dye does is to distinguish taxed fuel from untaxed fuel. I know the local Co-op dyes the fuel themselves. It's all the same diesel only they put red dye in the off-road and leave the road diesel clear.
In TN there is...
