    M1031 conversion to M1028

I think this might be the route I'm going to go. I did find a perfect swap but it's 3600 miles round trip from me. The M1031 needs tires really bad and it won't make the trip without them. The first step in that process would be to add a lift but I need to move the box to get to the rear...

    M1031 conversion to M1028

Not sure what it looks like inside. It's an unknown for me.

    M1031 conversion to M1028

I did find someone interested with a bed but they are 27 hrs each way. I can't think of a creative shipping option to make that happen. For my use, the box isn't the way to go. I see it as repurposing the truck.

    M1031 conversion to M1028

The local scrap guy wants it cut up in pieces the size of the side doors if he were to take it. I'm not certain about doing that yet. It has the generator and the compressor. I've had the generator working but right now it doesn't seem like the RPMS come up enough to get the frequency right...

    M1031 conversion to M1028

I've had my 1031 for over a year now and have primarily been working on getting it up and running. It now starts on its own and drives down the street with no leaks (well, I haven't looked at it today). My young daughters enjoy getting to drive it off-road. This journey started out with my 9...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

When I saw my core, I couldn't believe mine didn't overheat. The core looked plugged. I did notice my truck takes longer to warm up.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had the opportunity to remove and replace my radiator twice. The second time I opted for a re-core. So far no leaks. After seeing the old core, I don't understand how it wasn't over heating.

    Bench seat won't slide

Thanks you guys! I took the seat out last night. It was not moving on the passenger side. I was able to motivate it with a 3 lb hammer and now it works again. The cable seems ok to move both the releases.

    Bench seat won't slide

I took my daughter and her friend driving today. I slide the seat full forward so she could reach the pedals and now I can't get the passenger side to release. The wire is still attached to the passenger side. I tried moving the mechanism by hand but it won't slide. I'm not sure how that...

M1028 Washer / Wiper intermittent malfunction

I'm having an issue with my washer. Wipers work on both speeds and reset to where they are supposed to. Sometimes the washer works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the washer comes on when I'm using the wipers - especially after I've used the washer. I've found when I put it in park or...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I adjusted the steering box and now it drives down the road much better.

    Hard Starts

Maybe a drain back issue with the fuel filter?

    Getting my CUCV road worthy!

I spent $400 on having one built in LA. I did have it switched from a slip yoke to a slip joint on the transfer case end.

    Turbo 400 Question

Ok. Just wasn't sure if something wasn't slipping or trying to hold but failing. I wouldn't expect this thing to down shift at 55-60 mph.

    Turbo 400 Question

No. This is different. The engine is at higher RPMs so should be no chance of the transmission down shifting. The truck is coasting or decelerating and seems to release from compression braking.

    Turbo 400 Question

My M1031 has around 46,000 on the odometer and 170 hrs on the generator. When I'm coasting down a hill or coming off the ramp from highway speed, the truck seems to release off and on from transmission braking. Is this normal or a sign that something isn't right? I relatively little...

    Mechanical fuel pump replacement

I eventually got the pump on. I'm saying eventually because I'm still tweaking the fuel output line so that it doesn't leak. That thing is on there tight! I had to take the plate off and the rod slid right out. I'm not sure how it got jammed where it was. I rotated the engine to pull the...

    Mechanical fuel pump replacement

I tried the needle nose but that didn't get the rod to move. I see the two bolts for the cover plate. I'll try that tonight. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Mechanical fuel pump replacement

I'm in the process of changing a leaking mechanical fuel pump. I have the pump off but I can't seem to get the rod to move back into the engine. It appears to be pinned to the outer mounting surface. I've tried rotating the engine but I can't get it to move. Am I missing something obvious?

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

When I was trouble shooting my lights in the gauge cluster, I energized each circuit to make sure the path was good, bulb was good, and the connections were solid. I also cleaned the connections with a pencil eraser. This helped me narrow down the issue.
