after manually priming, truck starts, then dies

Ahhh! The Horror of it all. Seeing that six-legged monster brings back nightmares. I would agree with an air drawing issue. Replace every single rubber fuel line you can find. Also, replace those two tiny o-rings in the primer pump...they will cause problems too. mcmaster.com has the hose...

    So is there a cure?

No cure, sorry. Just good group therapy, but we are all enablers and we DON'T sing Kumbaya. Nice motorpool you got going on there. I am liking your M54 and your new 105 score.

    New Looks for Hannibal

Thanks for the compliment! The toolbox/spare tire sits on it's own frame directly behind the cab; there is no mounting to the bed. The jerry can holder is mounted to this frame and into the tool box. The bed has a lot more flex in relation to the cab on uneven terrain than this frame. The...

The M983 HEMTT tractor is coming along

That is a mighty handsome tractor. The three color camo is going to spruce it up even more. That fresh DD N.I.B. is also very impressive. I have always loved the HEMTT. I first saw them in a defense contractor magazine. When I got to active duty station at Ft. Hood I was surprised to see...

National Guard convoy, Ft. Stewart to Albany, GA.

As a youngster, I could spot a Deuce or 5-Ton coming down the road by the high-setting, narrow gaze of the headlights. I looked at all the big rigs on the highway, but not like I LOOKED at the column of "Army Trucks" lope along in the slow lane. These trucks have long had a special place in...

M809 series truck slow to return to idle

:ditto:I was amazed when I did all my fuel lines on the 818. The vehicle (I) took on a whole new positive outlook on life.

M809 series truck slow to return to idle

Brother Will Wagner probably has the 100% correct answer. However, check your fuel return lines that they are all up to snuff; not leaking or pinched. I have been told in the recent past that this is where this kind of problem rears its head.

    Unidentified carcass

Stan, I researched heavy logging trucks from Canada last night. Looked at many pics...especially Pacifics. I could not match the axles or the planetary hubs to anything. Pacific made a whole slew of these monster trucks to include the monster chain-driven M26. They are beautiful trucks:drool...

    Unidentified carcass

Looks like it might possibly be remnants of one of those behemoth logging trucks used in Canada. A Pacific or Hayes, Mack, maybe...I don't know for sure, but a good guess.

    Bought A Tank

What would be involved if you changed out those smoky old diesel engines for new pair of environmentally friendly low emission genset powerplants?? Can you run it on E-85??? Oh, BTW, that's not rust...it's called iron oxide preservative. Make sure you check air pressure in those wheels. If...
