As a daily driver, there absolutely wonderful. Used to drive mine from the railhead to the local shooting range all the time.
Unfortunately, I had to trade for a much smaller and economic M60A3 Prius Synergy Drive hybrid something-one-or-the-other. The price of unleaded de-sulfurized...
Sounds to me that in these turbulent economic times your state is looking for new ways to nickel and dime you to death. Just my take on it. Here in CA Historic (Collector) Vehicle plates are set at 25+ years. Its one of the few saving graces around here. Just hope they don't catch wind of that...
I generally like to leave mine, but I'll take a dump truck.
The multi-fuel "flat-grilles' are becoming few and far between. Cutting 'em up should not be done by the faint-hearted. I personally believe these trucks should restored as they were meant to be. But, that's my2cents. Do as you see fit.
Hoo-Ah!:grd:These trucks take a lickin' but keep on tickin'. As a former tanker who trained in the hallowed halls of Ft. Knox, It's sad to see the Armor Training Center move to Benning. However, it warms my heart to know the vintage iron will be performing up to task during the move.
What ever happened to "NUNYO". My business is "NUNYO" business. Your big beautiful handsome green iron must have scared someones little jack-wagon kid, the over protective parents had hissy/coniption fit over the whole ordeal and now they are in therapy with a retired drill instructor become...
Welcome aboard, Countryboy21. Thanks for joining us in this most noble mission of keeping a part of our nation's rich military heritage rolling along and from becoming cheap structural iron barely holding up a rickety Chinese skyscraper.
Making the decision to have your prize tow/hauled to your...
I'm 6'1', 250lbs. and I can still crawl into an M1 driver's hatch like slipping on a silk glove. For some strange reason the bones and joints don't even creak when I do it.
Thanks for the post. As an old taker I must offer the proverbial pennies deuce.
In an assembly area (i.e MV show/rally) always, always, always use a ground guide (marshal).
Always, always, always use a rear ground guide when backing
Face the vehicle only when NOT walking. When walking face in...
:ditto:I remember that distinctive sound on our company Deuce way back when. That great popping sound under the bed. Happens usually in a tight turn situation.
Welcome to the site. How's life out in Land-Scatter? Start reading your TM's available here on the site.
Remember, if you don't know already, to legally drive a Deuce in CA you need a Class B Comm. Driver License (3 axles over 6k lbs.). There are naysayers to this issue, but it is the law...
It's either 4" or 5". Contact bulldog_mack13 (Jay) on this site he has done this mod. several times on his trucks. He just extended the cap. He can tell you what you need to complete it with.
You're are not going to go anywhere fast in these trucks. BUT, you are going to look d@mn handsome doing it. They are designed and built for pulling/hauling heavy loads cross country. My short light-in-the-@$$ M818 does about 52-53mph @ 2100-2200rpms on the flat and level...downhill just a hair...
It's not the "stealing" (or appropriating) part I'm so concerned about. It's being out on that live(?) range that sort-a, kind-a gets me a little worried. Please be very cautious!!
567...Does the FRA require that you hang an EOT or knuckle up a caboose behind that big handsome rig [thumbzup]of yours. Looks like a blast. Nothin' like a good mix of MV and RR equipment.
Keep'em all rollin'!! Charlie-Mike...
Starting back on the Veteran's Day weekend, I began making some upgrades to my M818. My plans were for Deuce rear mud guards and flaps, M817 fuel tank protectors (replacing the quarter fenders) and a double stack of tool/utility boxes behind the cab with an auxiliary air tool connection.
I did...
